Very honoured to have spent time with the courageous volunteers from @antytila_offic charity fund as they delivered supplies around Ukraine’s Donetsk region. So much tireless work and meticulous planning goes into these trips - amazing to get such an insight into their work.

⚡️ BREAKING: UKRAINE RECEIVED NO ADVANCE WARNING FROM INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS DURING FIRST WAVE OF RUSSIAN BALLISTIC MISSILE ATTACKS — AIR FORCE Russia launched two waves of ballistic missile attacks against Ukraine overnight into October 19, but Ukrainian forces received no advance warning from international partners during the first wave, Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said. According to Ihnat, the first attack occurred at around 11 p.m., followed by a second wave at approximately 3 a.m. He noted that the situation was similar to a previous massive Russian attack involving 39 missiles, when Ukraine initially received no warning from its partners but was alerted ahead of the second wave. “The same thing essentially happened tonight,” Ihnat said, confirming that Ukraine received information from international partners during the second wave of attacks.

Many of our supporters have never been to Kyiv. Yet their donations help keep more than 50 bakers with intellectual disabilities at work, through air raids and blackouts.

Since last evening and up to now, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with more than a hundred different weapons – jet-powered drones, loitering munitions, and ballistic missiles. A significant portion of these strike assets were shot down. But unfortunately, not all of them. An ordinary residential building was destroyed in Kharkiv; the rescue operation continued virtually all night as first responders searched for people under the rubble. Four people were killed in this strike on the building in Kharkiv. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. In Kharkiv alone, 41 people were injured in just one evening. There was also a particularly vile ballistic missile strike on Kyiv – five missiles that hit civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, we received no early warning from our partners about this strike. Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches helps save lives, and this is one of the most critical issues. This is precisely what helps prevent people from being killed – when there is an early warning about ballistic missiles. Ukraine has not carried out strikes on Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for the two days since the American President announced an energy ceasefire. But Russia did not heed the American President. During this time, the Russians have attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure, sending absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes on Ukraine. Nineteen regions of our country have come under attack in these two days alone. Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready for reciprocal steps toward de-escalation, and effective pressure on Russia is needed to make de-escalation happen. Wars end when the aggressor realizes that it cannot prolong the war. Global pressure on Russia contributes to exactly that – bringing peace closer. But direct or indirect support for Russia, slowing down assistance to Ukraine, and making it harder to protect lives against ballistic missiles will certainly not help bring peace. Everyone needs peace. A strong America, a strong Europe, and strong partners are needed. Thank you to everyone who is truly helping!

This guy survived a drone strike at the animal shelter in Odesa. His fur is singed, but he was still purring away. 🥹 The Hachiko team brought Olga, who runs the Loving Hearts shelter, food & supplies—and we will help her rebuild the cat sanctuary.

The Loving Hearts animal shelter in Odesa was bombed by a jet-powered drone. This is what’s left of the building where 50 cats lived—at least 10 cats & 3 dogs were killed, with many still missing. We’re going to help them recover & could use your support 🙏 hachikofoundation.org/donate

in my native city Zaporizhzhia, after unblocking twenty bodies, including several children, rescuers keep searching for missing families. after tens of thousands of Ukrainian lives russians robbed us of, whoever thinks Ukrainians are resisting because their leaders tell them to is as tragically misreading Ukrainians as putin does

I'm very grateful our story on the horrors unfolding in Oleshky is on the front page of today's paper. “In the autumn, we will definitely die,” one resident wrote this summer. “I am already dying. I am getting weaker with each day.” nytimes.com/2026/10/05/world…

The Ed Sheeran drama was already an interesting case study in hypocrisy, as Ed gets mercilessly harassed for supporting Ukraine but not Palestine, while Macklemore (or anyone else, really) gets none of it for doing it the other way around. But the double standard becomes even more glaring when compared to Ovechkin. Sheeran’s entire touring lineup walked out over an attempt at neutrality. Meanwhile, Ovechkin actively and openly aligns himself with not just people, but a regime currently waging a brutal war of aggression in Ukraine, killing civilians daily, and starving occupied communities like Oleshky by denying food supplies. Yet Ovechkin continues to play professional team sports without his teammates walking out, fans turning away, or facing anything close to proportional backlash. It exposes a deeply broken standard for who society chooses to hold accountable.

Some 6,000 people — 200 of them children — are right now starving to death in a humanitarian catastrophe orchestrated by Vladimir Putin's Russia. The town of Oleshky and its surrounding district in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast exist under Russian occupation as a prison — and it is rapidly turning into a death camp. No one is allowed in or out. The last food delivery was on May 26. Medical supplies are close to non-existent. kyivindependent.com/editoria…
