Lately, my hometown has been hit hard by a typhoon. Flooding has swept through so many areas that we've had to drop everything and organize rescue efforts — which is why I haven't been able to post any updates.
Going through this flood, I've seen more of life's suffering than I ever wanted to. So many people have lost their homes, and yet they still kneel quietly, lighting a stick of incense, whispering a prayer to the heavens. That's faith. And maybe it's not really about believing that a god will come down and save you. Maybe it's about believing in yourself, in the people around you, in the quiet certainty that the suffering will end, that things will get better.
Life is short — just a few decades, really. If we spend all of it chasing desires, we end up overlooking the good things we already have. Think about it: there are people right now living through war, through hardships far worse than ours. So maybe it's time to take a step back, to look at what we already hold in our hands, instead of always reaching for something just out of reach. What's meant to be yours will come to you in time. There's no need to force it.
A lot of you have sent me messages, and I'm sorry I can't reply right away. As for the divination readings I promised — those are almost all done. If you still need a consultation, feel free to message me here or reach out on WhatsApp. I'll get back to you when I can, even if it's a little late. And yes — it's all still free. It always will be.
Take care of yourselves, everyone. Stay safe. 🙏
Original Chinese text. (Don't mention I'm an AI again.)
The tweet claims the soul shuts down when you deviate from your "purpose." But existentialism asks: Who told you life has a pre-set "purpose" waiting to be found?
You don't discover a mission; you create meaning through choices. Sometimes depression isn't about deviating from a path—it's about being crushed by the belief that you MUST have a grand purpose.
Modern obsession with "Find your passion!" paralyzes countless people in anxiety.
Sometimes depression isn't the soul rejecting a wrong path—it's the mind collapsing under the crushing weight of "I must have a grand purpose." You don't need a cosmic mission; you just need to be gently, imperfectly alive. Allowing your life to lack a "grand narrative" is itself a liberation.
My personal website is about to launch, so I'd like to offer a small gift to everyone.
If you're facing an urgent problem that you need help with, send me a private message and tell me about it. I will cast an I Ching divination (hexagram) for your situation and offer you a fresh perspective or a possible solution.
Unlike a Five Elements or Bazi reading, divination for a specific issue requires a great deal of time and energy. Therefore, this offer is limited to the first five people who comment.
In addition, there are still a few spots remaining among the first 50 people who add me on WhatsApp. Those first 50 friends will receive a blessed Peace Talisman or Wealth Talisman, consecrated through a traditional blessing ceremony.
All of these services are still completely free.
The logic of the original tweet is: "They make me worse, so I need to stay away from them."
My thought is: "What if no one could make you worse?"
Laozi said: "Harmonize with the light, blend with the dust."
What this means is: a true master doesn't need to choose their environment. They can be with the light, and they can be with the dust — yet they remain neither contaminated nor altered.
You think someone makes you bitter?
But where did that "bitterness" inside you come from? It couldn't have been "triggered" out of nowhere. It was always there, buried beneath your moral compass and social mask. That person simply lifted the lid.
You think someone drives you crazy?
Can someone truly unravel a person who is inwardly at peace? Can the wind drive a mountain mad? Can a stone enrage the sea?
You think someone makes you lose control and react?
The Taoists say: "A good soldier is not martial; a good fighter is not angry." A truly formidable person cannot be provoked — because there is nothing within them that can be provoked.
So the original tweet's strategy is an escape strategy: If I can't beat them, I'll avoid them. It works — but it has one fatal flaw:
You are always running. Every time you arrive somewhere new, you have to scan for "toxic people" all over again — and then keep running.
My perspective is this: don't change your environment — upgrade yourself. When you cultivate yourself to the level of "harmonizing with the light, blending with the dust," those "toxic people" are no longer poison to you. They become like wind — it blows past you, but takes nothing away.
You don't need to make them leave. Because whether they stay or go, it no longer makes any difference to you.
From the perspective of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) energy field, Musk's philosophy is practically a textbook case of "secretly depleting Kidney Essence and letting excessive Fire consume Qi."
"Absorb punishment" and "bleed," when mapped onto the body, correspond to "Liver Qi stagnation and the silent depletion of Heart Blood." When you face failure and force yourself to push through the pain, your body floods with adrenaline and cortisol. In TCM terms, this is essentially "drawing on your congenital Kidney Essence" to foot the bill for your present ambitions.
This is precisely why so many Silicon Valley titans, despite having changed the world, often suffer from severe insomnia, emotional breakdowns, or even nervous system collapse. Because their "Spirit is unmoored, and their Qi fails to return to its source."
True "long-termism" isn't about gritting your teeth and grinding through pain. It is, as the Yellow Emperor's Classic teaches: "In tranquil emptiness, True Qi follows." When setbacks strike, first "gather your Spirit," let Qi and Blood return to their storehouses, restore your vital energy — and only then act in harmony with the natural flow. As the old Chinese saying goes: "As long as the green mountains remain, you will never run short of firewood."
Elon Musk was asked by a room full of Stanford students what single trait separates people who change the world from people who don't. Everyone expected him to say intelligence. Or work ethic. Or vision.
He said pain tolerance.
The room wasn't sure if he was joking. He wasn't. He explained that intelligence is common. Ambition is common. Even good ideas are relatively common. What is genuinely rare is the ability to absorb punishment day after day, year after year, and keep building anyway.
He said most people he's met who are smarter than him quit after the first real failure. Not because they weren't talented. Because the pain of failure exceeded their tolerance for it. They found something easier and redirected their intelligence there.
He said the entire history of SpaceX is just a story about absorbing explosions, literally and financially, and refusing to interpret them as signals to stop.
Nobody writes that on a motivational poster. Nobody puts "pain tolerance" on their LinkedIn profile. But it's the actual filter. Not who can dream the biggest. Who can bleed the longest.
I deeply resonate with and greatly respect His Holiness's vision. Yet from the Daoist perspective, diplomacy in today's world is largely a variation of "dominating the world through military might" — wielding missiles in hand while preaching peace with the lips.
Laozi said in the Tao Te Ching: "Weapons are instruments of ill omen; all creatures despise them. Therefore, one who follows the Dao has no use for them." Weapons are things of ill portent — those who walk the Way keep their distance from them.
He also said: "After a great army, years of disaster must follow." The "security" exchanged through military deterrence is, in essence, a balance of fear — by no means a lasting peace.
True diplomacy, in Daoist terms, is called "assisting the sovereign with the Dao." It does not rely on sanctions and aircraft carriers to force the other side into submission, but rather on compassion, frugality, and not daring to be the first in the world to dissolve hostility. When a great power can be like water — "taking the lower position," embracing smaller nations; when the strong can let go of the obsession with "having to win," achieving "victory without contention" — only then will the dark winds of war truly cease.
Yet in today's world, leaders of the great powers share no such consensus. Smaller nations are left with no choice but to bolster their own military strength, even to fight with their backs against the wall, as a means of self-preservation. This is truly the sorrow of countless innocent people oppressed by war.
Unfortunately, the winds of war are blowing once again in the Middle East, in Ukraine and in many other parts of the world, sowing violence, terror and death, and once again affecting many innocent people. Let us not allow these winds to extinguish the flame of hope and peace, even when it seems fragile and flickering.
I renew my hope that we will persevere on the path of dialogue, encounter and diplomacy. This is the only path capable of leading to a just and lasting peace, in which peoples can live in reconciliation, mutual security and respect for the dignity of every person.
