The pencil is mightier than the sword!
✏️ 🗳️
For some people tomorrow - because of adult education, literacy and voter education - they are exercising their right to vote for the first time and proud to be part of democracy in Ireland! #beavoter #yourvoteyourvoice
Referendum 8th of March: Pen V Pencil
Many people have asked if they are legally entitled to fill out their voting card tomorrow using a pen, instead of a pencil and the answer is yes
Apparently, pencils have traditionally been supplied because they are cheaper, do not run out as quickly, and most importantly do not smudge
The critical thing to note is that if you are using a pen, be sure that the ink is fully dry before you fold your voting card, because if the ink smudges, your voting card could be disqualified (being declared spoilt)
