Technology is perceived as inherently progressive because of its efficiency. Slowly, its role in society has shifted from being a tool to be controlled to something regarded as a moral good in itself. I explain this dynamic in the excerpt below.

The practice of “loudcasting” is so objectionable because it irrupts through the boundary of our private space, imposing unchosen noise into the stream of thoughts that make for an individual life, while making private conversations more strained and difficult. It effectively imposes a law of the jungle onto public spaces, contributing to a sort of high-tech state of nature where the loudest and most brazen dominate public places, imposing their passing whims on everyone else. Good morning everyone. Despite image stabilisation, I really thought that I'd fluffed this shot as I could barely keep the camera still in the 40mph gusts! A class 156 hugs the cliffs at Parton with a service from Whitehaven to Carlisle on 27/10/2026. Take care all 😉👍

The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

Checking a reference in Book III of ‘Paradise Lost’ and stumbled across the lovely STARS acrostic as Satan surveys the universe (one of several such acrostics in Milton’s poem):
