When you're trying to get an urgent piece of work done but 2k words flow out of you and won't be stopped. That!

Anyway, my entry to the competition I enter every year has spilled out fully formed. I'm just hoping now the topic is confirmed to be the one the story fits best. Although I can tweak it to fit most of the topics being voted for.

As recommended by Tony out of East 17. And me. Cracking bit of DIY-store-noir. – at Portstewart, Northern Ireland

The worst time to write a blurb is: after you've finished writing a book. When most people turn their attention to writing a blurb: after they've finished writing their book. 1/5

It doesn't matter if you don't get it right first time, because starting earlier you have plenty of attempts to get it right. Writing the blurb might even influence or help consolidate ideas about the direction you're taking. 4/5

Don't make a blurb that is simply an afterthought be the first thing a potential reader sees. Otherwise that's all they'll remain. 5/5

A question for the #WritingCommunity: Does anyone review literary magazines? I edit @SeasideGothic, which just published Issue 1 (in print) and I would love to connect with a few reviewers if possible. Ideally UK-based, at first. #BookTwitter
