day 8: bitcoin shrooms 🍄 there’s a lot of bitcoin history hiding in these little mushrooms. created by shroomtoshi, bitcoin shrooms looks back at bitcoin’s first 13 years through pixel art. the collection is full of references to its people, memes, technology and the ideas behind it. these go back to the very early days of ordinals. the “S” shroom, for example, is inscription #38. the letter stands for self-sovereignty, one of the principles the artist wanted to explore through the collection. in december 2023, three pieces were offered at sotheby’s, marking the first public offering of works from the collection. a pretty big moment for little pixel mushrooms on bitcoin. i picked this one for the colours. those blocks of red, yellow, green and blue against the black background immediately caught my eye. it reminds me of old computer graphics. i like art that gives you a reason to look something up. with shrooms, following a reference can take you into a whole part of bitcoin’s history. respect to shroomtoshi 🫡

day 7: bitcoin puppets 🌎☮️ you can’t talk about ordinals without mentioning @BitcoinPuppets 10,001 puppets on bitcoin, created by @foufoufou67 who also made the earlier 777 piece O.P.I.U.M. collection. i love how weird these are. you go through the collection and keep finding an expression, an outfit or some random detail that makes you stop and look again. i could easily share a whole thread of favorites. the project never promised a big roadmap. the art was the point. since then, people have made their own memes, clothes and physical pieces around it. as someone who collects and creates, i appreciate seeing people enjoy a collection enough to start making things of their own. happy to have a puppet in my collection. world peace 🫡

day 6: planets 🪐 today we’re exploring a galaxy on bitcoin. @PlanetsBitcoin, created by @CreatorBitcoin, brings together 2,100 unique handcrafted planets across 21 dimensions, with 100 planets in each. what caught my attention is how the pieces connect. you can visit neighbouring planets, look back at your own from another viewpoint and explore the wider galaxy. each piece becomes a place you can spend time in. there are moons, rings, satellites, comets and spaceships. one detail i really like: a solar flare appears with every new bitcoin block, connecting the experience to bitcoin’s rhythm. there are also Block Planets, which use transaction data from special bitcoin blocks to shape their designs. the history of the chain becomes part of the artwork. i’ve talked before about wanting more ways to enjoy the art we collect. this is the kind of idea that gets me curious. giving people somewhere to explore, discover details and come back to. the video gives you a glimpse of the galaxy. open the link and explore it for yourself 🫡 ordinals.com/content/818777d…
