Richard Sherman believes the 49ers should move on from Jack Jones: ā€œI thought the safeties would be an issue this season. Ji'Ayir Brown and Malik Mustapha have played outstanding football. But Jack Jones is kind of a mystery. He’s the 50/50, you don’t know what you’re gonna get out of him and that’s been an issue. I think they’re gonna have to look at free agents or look for a trade and find another veteran corner outside of Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo Green— that can go in there and play solid football. Every time they put Jones in there in a critical situation, it ends up being an issue. I don’t think he’s made enough big plays so far for this team to justify keeping him.ā€ I agree, the 49ers need to release Jack Jones via: @RSherman_25

On the players expected to come back after the bye, #49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said they all (Evans, Bosa, Robinson, Sigle, Gifford, etc) have a chance to return but none are guaranteed. Will have to see how they are when they return to work next week.

The #49ers and #Bears are two teams prepared to be very active on the trade market and I’m expecting both teams to make some real noise. I discussed with @Realrclark25 on #ThePivot:

Brock Purdy discussed his two interceptions: First INT: ā€œI thought maybe Christian Kirk on the scramble was going to be there, but then towards the end, as I was getting ready to throw. I was like no it’s not and so I just went to throw it away by the sideline and then Bates all of a sudden came across and made a good play and I was like: ā€˜You got to be kidding me.ā€™ā€ Second INT: ā€œLinebacker was mugged up on the line of scrimmage, thought we had a alley outside to Jordan Watkins, and was going to throw, and it was there and thought it was going to be like a drive by like play. All of a sudden I threw the ball and he came from the backside and tipped it up to himself, didn’t see him or anything, so credit to him, he made a good play.ā€

#49ers had four defensive penalties accepted today. Three of those came on third or fourth down and resulted in a first down that led to scoring drives. The fourth was on a second and 20 that also helped lead to a touchdown. Not a ton but poorly timed. (One of them also was the result of not being given enough time to sub).

I always try to be a respectful fan of the game. With that said, I have to put the rivalry aside for a moment. To see Brock Purdy playing the way he is this season (probably top candidate for MVP) is special. Mr Irrelevant to leading a team to a 6-0 record AND playing this well is really cool to see. True reminder that it doesn't matter where in the draft you are picked, if you can play good football you have a chance in this league.

49ers lost a game here in Atlanta 2 years ago that shared some similarities with this one. Fumble-6 for the Falcons, multiple giveaways from SF, shoddy defense (missing Bosa that time, too) led to no pressure/too many easy Atlanta throws. SF traded for CMC a few days later, got guys back, and went on a run shortly after that
