As @katz_morris explains, DC consultants just literally don't understand what voters mean when they say moderate. Check out the full convo here: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

I started my review of @IsabellaMWeber's wonderful new book, Anti-Fascist Economics, with a passage from my old freshman year econ textbook. Shit's crazy. newrepublic.com/article/2171…

I reviewed @IsabellaMWeber’s phenomenal new book for @newrepublic. When people can’t afford essentials, to respond with “Just let the market work” isn’t just cruel—it’s stupid. It’s kindergarten-level magical thinking, dressed up as hard-nosed realism. Anti-Fascist Economics treats these idiotic ideas with the derision they deserve. We should too. newrepublic.com/article/2171…

We are officially almost at the end of the 2026 election. To reflect back on the crazy twists and turns and the major progressive successes of this cycle, we spoke with @usamahandrabi, the communications director for @justicedems. Justice Democrats is best known as the org that recruited AOC in 2018, but they’re a lot more than that, and their story is, in a lot of ways, the story of the left’s resurgence over the last few years. (Note: We recorded this episode a few weeks ago. At first we were concerned about whether a conversation focused largely on how progressives have used primaries to make the Democratic Party better was appropriate for the day before the general election. But then corporate Dem Haley Stevens endorsed MAGA freak Mike Rogers in an attempt to ratfuck Democrats’ U.S. senate nominee in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed. And we remembered that yes, beating the far right absolutely requires us to defeat the corporate Dems who are far more interested in protecting their billionaire donors than defeating fascism. Let’s beat these MAGA freaks on Tuesday and then let’s clear out the rot in our party starting Wednesday.) podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

We haven’t had any political candidates on the pod yet. But we decided to make an exception for @JaneKim, who is running to be the next insurance commissioner of CA. We don’t think often about insurance, particularly property and casualty insurance. But it’s the foundation for so much of our economic world. And right now it’s not working. Well, it’s actually working great for the massive corporations raking in billions in profits while denying and underpaying claims and saddling us with massive climate risks. But Jane believes a better way is possible. And we think you will, too, after listening to our conversation! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

In the US, when the cost of essentials started going up, Democrats said, Oh well, that’s the market for you, nothing we can do about it. In Mexico, @IsabellaMWeber explains, they took action.

In the face of rising costs, what if we said, “We don’t have to just take this. Let’s use government to help people so they don’t elect a bunch of fucking fascists!” That’s the core lesson of @IsabellaMWeber’s great new book. Check out our conversation! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

The oligarchs are coming for every last tool the American people have ever used to restrain corporate abuse, deception, and overreach. It's a huge new front in the right's push for elite impunity, and it's not getting enough attention. newrepublic.com/article/2154…

Corporate lawyer Jeff Levy wrote a Globe op-ed that attempts to coopt Hannah Arendt (whom he clearly has never read) to label me and other critics of Israeli violence "Exception Jews." In a dog whistling way, it gets to the core of an argument that is constantly thrown at this large and growing segment of the Jewish community: that, because we oppose war crimes being committed in our name, we are not real Jews -- that only guys like Levy, who are content to see such crimes committed in their name, can be real Jews. And I just want to say that this argument really, really sucks. It's one thing to disagree with someone. It's another to publicly call someone out by name (as he repeatedly does to me in this piece) and essentially say, "You're not a real Jew." We're all used to hearing this, of course. We get it all the time. Still, I really can't overstate just how deeply, deeply offensive it is. Which, I'm sure, was Jeff's goal. So touche, I guess -- you caused some pain, congrats. But the point we made in our original piece remains: Our community deserves better.
