πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ PEAR (ID 234827), 3 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as a stray on 6/20/2026. πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➑️TBD 8/13/26 ➑️ πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ 😱πŸ”₯πŸ”₯😱 ➑️ 53 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➑️ PEAR IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Meet Pear! Pear has had quite the journey. After originally arriving as a stray, he found himself back in our care after spending time surviving outdoors on his own. While all of these changes have left him feeling understandably unsure, Pear has been steadily gaining confidence with the help of patient staff. Beneath his shy exterior is a gentle cat who is beginning to realize that people can be trusted again. My Ideal Home - Pear is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with experienced cat guardians who will give him the time and space he needs to adjust. He'll appreciate a calm environment, cozy hiding spots, and adopters who let him take the lead when it comes to interaction. With patience, routine, and plenty of tasty treats, Pear is likely to continue blossoming into a wonderful companion. Pear is a sensitive cat who needs a calm environment where he can build confidence at his own pace. Slow, gradual introductions would be recommended if resident pets are present. Pear has shown fearful behavior in the shelter but has made encouraging progress over time. While he initially became overwhelmed by touch, he has gradually learned to accept gentle interactions without escalating. He will do best with adopters who understand feline body language, respect his boundaries, and allow him to continue building trust at his own pace in a quiet home. Other Fun Facts - Pear has a soft spot for squeeze-up treats! They have helped him build positive associations with people, and he'll happily come forward for a tasty snack. Staff have loved watching him grow more curious and confident, from cautiously peeking out of his hidey box to gently taking treats from their hands. Every small victory has shown just how much potential this sweet boy has once he feels safe. A volunteer writes: Before we get into everything that happened before, I'd like to please focus on the absolutely charming little cat Pear is now with the caveat that he has no interest in being charming right now. Pear seems to be on a mission to explain that he doesn't love the shelter even if there are some things here that he really does love, which are toys that can be left for him in his beloved box (which, coincidentally, is another thing he loves here). Pear so adorably did not want to play with me, even though I really tried and he didn't even want me to watch him play, which is ok too but also unintentionally very cute. Most recently, Pear walked into someone's backyard and he was pretty happy to be noticed. Though I'm sure he'd say otherwise right now, Pear would love to be noticed once again. ❀️ 😻❀️ 😻❀️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ™Thank you

HARISSA - (5X ON EPL - TOO LOW ON PLEDGES) - BEING IGNORED AND OVERLOOKED ON X AND AT SHELTER- 😱😱 πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ 😱😱😱😱- WITH SO MANY CATS ONTHE EPL - THE MEDICAL KITTIES ARE WAAAAYYY BEHIND ON PLEDGES - PLEASE CONSIDER THEM:πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ 1. MATTHEW - Matthew has severe dental disease and was noted to have lost a pound over the two months she has been in shelter, despite a reportedly good appetite. Her bloodwork showed some abnormalities, but was not diagnostic for any particular disease. An underlying systemic disease is suspected and additional diagnostics including abdominal ultrasound are recommended. 2. QUINOA - Quinoa is a very friendly and affectionate geriatric cat who came into the shelter underweight, dehydrated and with muscle wasting. He had various wounds, which are all healing. He has a heart murmur and regenerative anemia. While Quinoa is eating well, his abdominal palpation revealing slightly thickened intestines, indicating that he may require further evaluation for underlying GI disease. Quinoa requires supportive care and monitoring and additional diagnostics may be needed. 3. GREY - Grey is a young kitten who was in a hoarding situation and found to have a rectal prolapse. It is a possibility that she will have prolapses in the future and will need ongoing medical care. 4. GUMBO – He is not eating in shelter due to a severe upper respiratory tract infection. Due to his high level of stress in shelter, he will not tolerate supportive care. He needs placement in a veterinary clinic to recover and a quiet home to thrive. NOT EATING IS A DEATH SENTENCE IN THE SHELTER. 5. TUTU - Advanced age and multiple chronic medical concerns are difficult to fully evaluate and manage in the shelter setting. She is underconditioned with muscle wasting, suspected arthritis, severe dental/periodontal disease requiring a dental procedure with placement, and recently developed a suspected UTI. Further urinary tract/abdominal imaging has been recommended. Behaviorally, Tutu has shown limited tolerance for medical handling and would require sedation for further advance diagnostics. She is currently quiet with a fair appetite and would benefit from placement for continued monitoring, further diagnostic evaluation, and management of her needs. πŸ†˜πŸ†˜TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR THE OVERLOOKED AND IGNORED AS SHELTER IS AT MAX CAPACITYπŸ†˜πŸ†˜ - ALL VERY LOW ON PLEDGES & AT HIGHEST RISK FOR EU/SILENT KILL😱 😟😟😟 PLEDGES WILL HELP STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST FOR ALLπŸ†˜πŸ†˜πŸ†˜ NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT FOR THESE LITTLE ONES-πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ™πŸ™ PLEASE SHARE AND PLEDGE IF YOU CAN- CONTACT RESCUES/FOSTERS/ADOPTERS. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 Thank you

Tonight I said goodbye to my cat after 19 and a half years of life. In 2007, my girlfriend (now my wife) dropped off a calico kitten with me since she couldn’t keep her in her dorm at college. That kitten was my first roommate in my first apartment. She moved 5 times with me, was there when I got married, saw my 2 sons come home from the hospital, and outlived both of my dogs that were born after her. She loved turkey and vanilla ice cream cones, stinky soft cat food and sleeping on a pillow behind my head. I loved her so much. Her name was Lily. ❀️

The kitties are almost done with their spay day at the Spay Spa & Neuter Nook @SpaySpa so we are getting ready to pick them up and head back to Leesburg where the cats will stay at a couple of volunteer's homes where we can monitor them to ensure they recover from surgery without issue before they are returned home. Here are some photos of the cats from today's clinic.

This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Mugen is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner reports he is as a friendly, talkative, affectionate, active, and playful indoor cat who spends most of his time in the living room of his home when he is not following his people around in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. He is noted by his previous adopter to struggle with new people and to prefer contact on his own terms which is also a preference/need that the shelter environment by nature is not conducive to providing for. This cat is suitable for adopters with previous cat experience who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help him adjust to their new home. A volunteer writes: For half a very surprising second, I'd left Mugen waiting for pets. He was standing at the front and had presented me with his beautiful forehead. Headbunting into the hand I'd extended as soon as I realized what was happening, this was quite a bit different from a few minutes earlier when Mugen had gracefully hopped on top of his bed upon seeing me at the door. I really thought that space was as far as our friendship would go, which is always ok but after peering over and around my head for several minutes, Mugen had a change of heart. Extending his neck a little and trying to walk forward, I appreciate his thoughtfulness and understand that none of it's magic. Mugen takes his time to come around, but when he's ready, he does. He was brought to us after he followed someone home and since he lived there for a little while, they were able to see his curious and gentle side. Dandelion update. Exactly 2 weeks ago today Delightful Dandelion came in to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary he was a dying kitten. Dehydrated, anaemic and almost collapsed. Doing the emergency blood transfusion carried many risks, but we had nothing to lose. He was dying in front of us on the vets table. Courageous Carrots,, came forward to donate blood and literally saved Dandelions little life.. Today Dandy had his numbers checked and his PCV is an amazing 25.!! Dandelion remains in intensive care and is being carefully monitored by our TEAM 24.

This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ What my friends at ACC say about me: Uzi is a big "galoot" of a cat! He was at the front, sweet, friendly, and curious, loving treats and leaning in nicely for cheek rubs. He warmed up quickly, leaning in more with a high tail and enjoying all petting. He was curious and interested in possibly coming out of the kennel, and when picked up and held, he remained calm in the assessor's arms. When set back down, he remained at the front, pushing against the assessor's hand as if wanting either more attention or out of the kennel, or both. A volunteer writes: Uzi was sleeping so soundly that it was momentarily difficult for me to imagine that he's ever had a care in the world, but then I noticed the note explaining that his blanket and toys help to provide some of the security he's been looking for. We all contain multitudes so though I welcomed the exuberant cheek rubs and enthusiastic cuddles that I was generously gifted upon opening the door, I also know the shelter, and life in general, can be a lot. Uzi has a lot going for him besides his gorgeously fluffed cheeks. He's chatty and affectionate, skilled at choosing the best window seats and we've heard he plays with other cats, but something that will work for Uzi is an experienced and loving family where he will feel understood and welcomed for who he is. ❀️ 😻❀️ 😻❀️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ™Thank you
