The problem here is assuming that the only way a society works is through the church model or the alternative you are asking people to propose. How about a working state?
Social things usually sort themselves once the state infrastructure works for everyone
Replying to @karimiBeryl
If the church is a patriarchal and oppressive institution and if you feel there is no way you can ever work together with it towards common goals, the people need an alternative institution.
Let us see if you are as good as building as you are at criticizing.

A month ago the son won a subject prize and so did all the 3 other dudes in their friend group.
I am so proud of the boys.
Great peer pressure to excel.
The two things that are true for me are that I congratulate Kane but also that Salah was robbed in broad daylight.

Looking at my official half marathon results - I need to move from recreational runner lol, surely can do better if I stop taking pictures and dancing along the way (but where is the fun in that?)

Thank you for raising this, and for taking the time to help them. Let me add some context to why these gaps exist.
ZIMSTAT’s 2025 figures show that only 11.2% of Zimbabwean households have a computer at home. Schools face similar constraints: the 2022 chart shows a national average of 84 pupils per computer in primary schools and 35 in secondary schools. In Mashonaland Central, the primary school ratio was 148 pupils per computer. How much time does that leave each child to practise?
There’s also a perception that Zimbabwe is awash with graduates. Yet only 6.8% of people aged three and above who had ever attended school had completed tertiary education. That isn’t an adults-only measure, but it gives some perspective. Even among those with tertiary education, only 62.1% reported using a computer and use doesn’t necessarily mean proficiency in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
“But we have smartphones,” you might say. Have we bothered to ask what people actually do with them?
ZIMSTAT’s 2025 digital activity figures offer some context. Among people aged 15–35, 44.4% participated in social networking, but only 8.7% used spreadsheet software and 8.1% edited documents, spreadsheets, or presentations using digital tools. These figures cover digital activities across devices, but they show why access alone doesn’t establish workplace skills.
I think there’s a business opportunity here: practical, private computer skills tutoring for professionals, built around their everyday tasks: reports, budgets, spreadsheets, and presentations.
When I was in college, I had a side business preparing reports for executives. The demand never went away. Your experience is another reminder of that gap and the value of taking the time to teach.

Great stats and my worry was we never owned computers - in my stream only the CS guys had them we had to use the lab or library or ask CS friends. How are kids less competent now?
You also raise a huge point we have said about mobile devices, they are good for consumption not so much creation.
We have work.

We hated BUS1010 - [Introductory Computing for Business Applications] but look at what it did for us? We learnt basic HTML, Visual Badic and simple Excel Operators. I landed my first job able to do basic V and H Lookups, write basic macros and stuff
I worked in a project last year where I had an intern. Lovely lady who had done a prior 6 months internship in a UN agency. She was not able to properly use MS Word / Office / PowerPoint. I curated a program for her and also asked some colleagues to help her. I was a bit concerned that a graduate completed school without confident knowledge/application of these. She caught on very well so we can at least say we helped her as a team. This week also encountered a student on attachment who could not compute a simple math working using Excel. I encouraged him to start with YouTube for basics then ask colleagues to show them ways to apply it. Sad to say this is a basic skill kids know by primary and latest high school in more conscious and resourced schools. Kindly teach the youth when you and may the youth also skill themselves. Our generation at least did ICDL or asked friends for help in uni. Personally was taught at Kingdom during my 2003 internship because of back office functions. Kindly teach the kids when you can, chatova chikumbiro.
