Ever wondered why the Mac's ⌘ key looks like that? 🤔⌨️
👀 Early Mac menus showed a tiny 🍎 logo next to every shortcut
😤 Steve Jobs saw it and said "There are too many Apples on the screen!"
⏳ The team had only a few days to replace it
📖 Designer Susan Kare flipped through a book of international symbols
🇸🇪 She found ⌘, a sign used in Sweden to mark a place worth visiting
🎨 She drew it as a tiny 16×16 pixel icon
💻 And it's been on Mac keyboards ever since ✨
Did you know this? 👇
🍎 Apple's Pro and Tell is tonight at 10:30 PM IST
🎟️ It's an invite-only hands-on in LA, so there's no livestream to watch
👆 The big one is expected to be Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro
✨ Reports say it'll have an tandem OLED display, a Dynamic Island instead of the notch and a lighter body
🍿 I'll be refreshing Apple Newsroom all night, who's staying up with me?
📅 30 July 2021, the day I brought home my first ever Mac
💸 A Space Gray MacBook Air M1, bought with my own money, and that made it feel extra special
📦 I still remember how good it felt just opening that box 🥹
🤫 No fan, so it was completely silent no matter what I threw at it
🔋 The battery lasted all day, and I genuinely stopped carrying the charger around
⚡ It woke up instantly every time I opened the lid
🍎 It was Apple's first Mac chip, and somehow it still felt like magic
❤️ It's the Mac that made me fall in love with Macs, and honestly a big reason this page exists
💬 What was your first Mac?
🌳 Apple's first logo back in 1976 wasn't even an apple. It was Isaac Newton sitting under a tree
🙅 Even Ron Wayne, who drew it, called it a 19th century logo, and once Jobs got serious about the Apple II he knew it wouldn't do
🍎 So in 1977 Rob Janoff came up with the simple apple we all know
🍒 The bite? He added it so nobody would think it was a cherry
💻 And the "byte" joke wasn't planned at all, he only found out later 😂
📱 Kinda wild that Newton's apple ended up on the back of my iPhone
🛍️ The App Store icon has come a long way since 2008
✏️ It started as a glossy blue circle with a pencil, a brush and a ruler forming the "A"
🎨 iOS 7 made it flat, iOS 11 dropped the circle, and Liquid Glass gave it a whole new shine
💻 The Mac got its own version in 2011 and has evolved right alongside it
🙌 Still one of the cleanest icons Apple has ever made
💙 Every app we love started with a tap on this little blue icon

🥲 Not gonna lie, I still miss 3D Touch
📱 I used to enjoy it so much on my iPhone 7
👀 Pressing a little harder on a message to peek at it without opening it felt like magic
⌨️ Pressing down hard on the keyboard to turn it into a trackpad was my favourite thing
📳 And that little click under your finger made the screen feel alive
📲 Haptic Touch does the job today, but 3D Touch had a different kind of charm
Some features you only start missing once they're gone
🚨 Apple just dropped two new Macs with M6
💻 14-inch MacBook Pro: 12-core CPU and up to 24 hours of battery life, the longest ever in a Mac
🖥️ iMac: up to a 12-core CPU, in seven colours
⚡ Both get a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6
🗓️ Pre-orders open tomorrow, Oct 28, and they arrive Nov 6
💸 US prices start at $1,999 for the MacBook Pro and $1,499 for the iMac
👀 And tomorrow could bring even more Mac news...
Which one are you eyeing? 👇
🍏 Apple's next launch is tomorrow, and you won't find a livestream
📅 "Pro and tell" happens Oct 28 in Los Angeles at 10:30 PM IST
🎤 It's a hands-on event for press only, so the news drops as press releases
💻 Expected: the first OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, with a Dynamic Island instead of the notch
⚡ Also rumored: an M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and an M6 iMac
📱 The new iPad mini already dropped early
Which one are you waiting for?
⚡ Is it just me or does iOS 27.2 feel faster?
📱 Apps are opening noticeably snappier on my iPhone 17 Pro Max
🤔 Apple didn't mention any speed improvements in the update notes
👀 But something definitely feels smoother
Updated yet? Notice any difference on yours?
New emojis are on the way, but you'll have to wait a while.
Unicode just shared its first draft list for Emoji 19.0, and so far there are only five: Vulture, Ornate Bottle, Orchid, Inukshuk and Eyes Looking Right.
They're still drafts, so the list could change. Final approval is expected in September 2027, which means they'd likely reach iPhone in late 2027 or early 2028.
If it stays at five, this would be the smallest emoji update ever.
👀 iOS 27.2 is released officially to the public 👇
🧠 Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish
🇮🇳 India stays English
💬 Messages Suggested Actions

📦 Your new iPhone might already know your name before you open the box 👀
⚙️ Apple Stores use a system called Presto to update iOS on iPhones while they're still sealed in the box
📲 So you can walk out with the latest update already installed, no waiting at setup
👋 Per Mark Gurman, the same tech can now even put your name after "Hello" on the first boot screen
🎁 Sealed, updated and personalised without anyone touching the phone 🤯
