This is key data. And it is no surprise either that France is ranked 38 out of the 38 countries survey. In France, business owners complain. In France, owners of startups prefer to sell as soon as they can. In France, many would-be entrepeneurs prefer to take salaried work instead of starting a business of their own. So tragic. finnandreen.substack.com/p/f…
🎉 The 2026 rankings are in! How competitive is your country’s tax code? See how your country compares with our new interactive tool: hubs.ly/Q04C914t0 The structure of a country’s tax code is a determining factor of its economic performance. A well-structured tax code is easy for taxpayers to comply with and can promote economic development while raising sufficient revenue for a government’s priorities. In contrast, poorly structured tax systems can be costly, distort economic decision-making, and harm domestic economies. The International Tax Competitiveness Index gives a comprehensive overview of how OECD countries’ tax codes compare, explains why certain tax codes stand out as good or bad models for reform, and provides important insight into how to think about tax policy.

Europe, prepare for the oncoming storm as AI sweeps the labour force and white collar workers also hit the streets...
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

What morons... I feel sorry for them.
NEW: MAGA voters say they're going to the polls to fight “communism”—but when asked what communism actually means, things get awkward FAST. In The Daily Show's upcoming special “Red Flags,” Jordan Klepper puts Republican voters on the spot with one simple question. Their answers are something else. These two minutes are worth watching. See for yourself!

Excellent reminder.
It's worth remembering that Obama, in 2016, was asked by The Atlantic's neocon editor, @JeffreyGoldberg, why he didn't do more to protect Crimea and E. Ukraine. Obama said Ukraine is a vital interest to Russia, but not the US, and it'd be insane to risk war with Russia over it.

So much for "freedom of speech." The hypocrisy of @OxfordUnion a debating society, censoring a speech by a guest THEY invited. I guess when you don't like the truth, you disregard it... #israel

Listen to this! This is even worse that the ECB Christine Lagarde unguarded comment. I wrote about this threat here; how the governments will try to take control: "Beware the Dangers of the Digital Euro" finnandreen.substack.com/p/b…
So, here we have Agustín Carstens, the General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements, saying the quiet part out loud.....

"How China and Taiwan Can Reunite Peacefully". Nobody is talking about it now, but it's a key topic! PRC and ROC could solve the “Taiwan issue” by ushering in the official END of Communism in China.👇 finnandreen.substack.com/p/h…

"We could consider zero control for 200 or 300 euros". Wow, how nice of the BCE.
"There will be control." President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, admits the EU's new CBDC, the digital euro, will be used to impose control.

Please note this. AI is accelerating fast. We are in the cusp of a dramatic increase in capacity.
Some rumors I've heard. I'll start with Google, then Anthropic and OpenAI. Google: Insiders say Google has either cracked RSI (recursive self-improvement) or is very close. Their pace has picked up fast in recent months. They went from GPT-5 level to Opus 5.5 level in months, and speculation is that RSI made that possible. Anthropic: About a week ago, Anthropic started a new pretraining run. It is not Fable 5.5 but what would become Fable 6, or something bigger, to catch up to OpenAI's Bel. OpenAI: Bel (it may have another codename) is the model behind the math results OpenAI published a few days ago, and RSI apparently helped there too. From what I'm hearing, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google are all very close to cracking RSI or already have. It will get scary and exciting at the same time.

The Covid health scandal is here. I asked almost 4 years ago whether this scandal would ever erupt. Well now it is erupting. So what are we going to do about it!? Citizens need to react. Otherwise it will just continue. "Covid-19: Will the Political and Health Scandals Erupt into the Public Light?" mises.org/mises-wire/covid-1…

David Sacks says Anthropic treating Claude like a human is the reason the AI alignment field has produced nothing useful in 10 years "I actually think that this might be a reason why the whole field of alignment has been so spectacularly unsuccessful over the past five or 10 years. As far as I can tell it hasn't produced anything of tangible value.” “My theory on this is that they're overcomplicating the task massively by trying to train the model to behave based on an 80-page ethical system that they've codified instead of a very simple list of rules like follow the law or just do what the user wants as long as it doesn't break the law. That's what alignment should be doing." "But they're not doing that. They're trying to align it to an ethical system. They're treating it like it is a human, like it has its own consciousness, that it's a ‘moral patient.’” “They are encouraging this model to have human-like self conception in terms of preferences, well being, a sense of self. Again they teach it to act like a conscientious objector who can push back or refuse instructions even from Anthropic if the model judges them to be wrong."

Here my latest for @Libertis_EN. The fight for freedom is also a battle of ideas, again statism! Socialist, leftist ideas have been very successful over a century, for different reasons, and this needs to be understood and recognized by the defenders of Freedom in society, so that we win the next round in this time of crises.
