Recursive Self-Improvement
A retired NASA engineer who had worked on the Space Shuttle program for 25 years was hired by SpaceX at age 62. He described the first week as the most disorienting experience of his professional life. At NASA, a design change required 3 meetings, 2 committees, a review board, and 6 to 18 months of documentation. At SpaceX, his new supervisor said "if it works, build it. If it doesn't, change it by Friday." He sat at his desk after the first day and called his wife. He told her he felt like a man who had been swimming with ankle weights for 25 years and someone just cut them off. He could move. He could decide. He could build something in the morning and test it in the afternoon. The constraint that he had accepted as the nature of aerospace engineering turned out to be the nature of bureaucracy. Within 6 months he had contributed to more design iterations than he had completed in his last 5 years at NASA. Not because he was working harder. Because the time between having an idea and testing the idea collapsed from months to hours. The same brain. The same knowledge. A different operating system. He described a specific moment where he proposed a modification to a Raptor engine component. At NASA, the proposal would have entered a queue. At SpaceX, the modification was machined by the end of the day and tested by the following morning. He watched his idea become a physical object in 18 hours. At NASA, 18 hours would not have been enough to schedule the first meeting to discuss whether to schedule a meeting. He told an interviewer: "I didn't get smarter when I went to SpaceX. I got faster. The intelligence was always there. The system was in the way." The difference between SpaceX and NASA is not talent. NASA has extraordinary talent. The difference is the time between a thought and a test. SpaceX compresses it. NASA elongates it. The same engineer produces 10x more at SpaceX than at NASA because the bottleneck was never the engineer. It was the meetings about the meetings about the work.

I wonder if I pwned this n00b along the way Good ole' days
Ben Affleck says he spent 3 years at home playing StarCraft after becoming famous “There was a game called StarCraft that probably took the most life out of me for a period of time. I had just got famous and all I did was stay home for three years and play StarCraft” “I love Valorant. It's a great game. The problem with that game is that with kids that have been raised playing, I just get f**king rocked. I'm like, ‘Are you f**king cheating?’ And I get mad. It's very humiliating” “I love 2K. I love Madden. And the early Doom, when I first played that game, which then gave rise to Quake. We played that endlessly for hours when we were doing Good Will Hunting. I remember writing and taking these long breaks to play Doom”

Streaming won’t be the same. Currently, streamers deal with rising fees, shrinking visibility, delayed payouts, and unstable creator programs. Enter @blaze_stream, an Avalanche L1 aiming to solve this.

Matias A. joins Avalanche Foundation as Chief Investment Officer, bringing over a decade of experience managing $20+ billion in institutional portfolios across traditional finance and digital assets. Most recently serving as Head of Treasury at the Avalanche Foundation, Matias has been instrumental in architecting treasury strategies, designing DeFi-centric investment frameworks, and building algorithmic execution systems that bridge institutional rigor with crypto-native innovation. His background spans roles as Portfolio Manager at World Bank Treasury, where he directed $4.3B across fixed-income portfolios, created the backend infrastructure to manage $60B, and contributed to the external managers selection and tactical positioning for a $25B world bank pension fund portfolio, consistently delivering above-benchmark performance. Matias combines rare expertise across macroeconomic policy and capital markets execution. His career began as a Research Analyst at the International Monetary Fund, where he developed analytical frameworks for evaluating and designing policies for sovereign economies of European countries. At the World Bank, he worked on critical macroeconomic challenges including fiscal sustainability for El Salvador and the unfreezing of bond markets in Jamaica. These experiences gave Matias firsthand experience in how policy interventions can restore market function and catalyze economic growth. This dual foundation in macroeconomics and asset management gives him a distinctive lens: understanding both how economies generate growth and how capital markets channel resources to productive uses. Now applied to building Avalanche as the infrastructure for bringing real-world economic activity onchain at scale 🔺

About a decade ago, the Cornell Blockchain Club was the first blockchain-related entity to ring the opening bell at NASDAQ. It was great to see early crypto folks on the big screens in Times Square. We're on the same screens today, with the first AVAX ETF. This is a big accomplishment that makes it a lot easier to own AVAX and enables people to participate in the multichain future.
The first ever AVAX ETF was listed on the @Nasdaq this morning. A big win for us all. Anyways, back to bringing the world onchain🔺
