The young and the old of it. Buff-colored Holocene alluvium (Qy) butting up against Proterozoic granite (Xg) roughly 3.5 miles south of Sunflower, AZ, along AZ 87 β the Beeline Highway. There is some indication of minor faulting in Xg along the contact with the alluvium.

The salmon have returned to the Klamath! π From our project team's first sighting of a fish just above former Iron Gate Dam, now agencies, Tribes, & fisheries monitors are finding spawning adults in multiple tributaries above the former dam sites, even all the way up in Oregon!

This string of #beaver wetlands was very fire-resistant during the 2020 Mullen Fire.
Why?
Beavers slow water down during rainy times, spread it out, (temporarily) store it, thin fuels via chewing, promote growth of very moist & hard to burn wetland plants, & more! Thx beavs.

I spent the next three years in a P.O.W. camp forced to subsist on a thin stew made of fish, vegetables, prawns, coconut milk and four kinds of rice.

Crews have nearly finished dismantling the last of four dams on the Klamath River. In mid-August, I saw excavators carving away at remnants of two dams β Iron Gate and Copco No. 1. Soon workers will clear channels, reestablishing a free-flowing stretch of the river.

Indigenous people hold real stakes and deserve representation, but when governments say βstakeholder engagementβ, what they mean is consulting an industry on its own regulation.
Should we stop using the word #stakeholder in #participatory #engagement research & practice?
