What a lovely fossil.

W.531 / Juan Fernández Seamount Chain / Southeast Pacific
A kaleidoscope of colours thriving deep beneath the ocean's surface, where lush coral forests flourish, revealing the remarkable biodiversity of the underwater mountains of the Juan Fernández Ridge. Over 100 new species, including deep-sea corals, glass sponges, sea urchins, amphipods, squat lobsters, and more, are estimated to have been discovered on a recent @SchmidtOcean expedition off the coast of Chile.

Dofleinia armata (striped anemone) - Broome. Its body is covered with nematocysts (stinging cells). Each n-cyst is loaded with neurotoxins that interfere with the nervous system by switching off electrical signals in the cells. No comm's b/w cells leads to paralysis ☠️ look out🦀
