Theres interest, but I think you would disagree with them on the correcty technology. abc.net.au/news/2019-06-26/i…
Australia has trillions in super
Why is it so hard to fund the infrastructure that could lower future costs?

A woman i know has this tattoo, a cute onagiri roll, she got it in Japan after a meal. We jokingly discussed if we thought there was a a japanese person with a tattoo of a burger, steak, or similar western cuisine?

In the competition for really stupid, dogmatic hot takes, we can always count on Mark Jacobson to rival for the top spot.
A senior executive at @the_AEMC has just given a speech confirming that doublethink is an essential component of the energy transition.
We all knew this was going to get Orwellian sooner or later! 🫠

This is an Australian wind farm proposal citing an IEA source that says wind is cheaper than everything except nuclear.
Which would make nuclear much, much cheaper than coal.
I just don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Did you know? Chicago's nuclear plants release a white cloud to signal whenever a Chicagoan has been elected Pope.
Here's a view of me in front of Byron nuclear power plant as it announces the election of Pope Leo XIV.
Labor has now received two mandates to transition to renewable energy. This one bigger than the last.
That means more solar, more wind and more storage to firm it up.
Bring it on

POST BLACKOUT, SPAIN RECONSIDERING NUCLEAR PHASEOUT
The owners of Spain's most powerful nuclear plant are meeting tomorrow to decide whether to stop the phaseout by pursuing negotiations with the government.
Spain gets a fifth of its power from nuclear, which also provides crucial grid inertia. But the Socialist government has forced all the nuclear plants to arrange to close by 2035.
But now, after last week's blackout, Spain is reconsidering.
Government leaders and ministers, ignorant of energy issues and wholly guided by ideology and old political beefs, are being forced to suddenly learn how electricity works.
It will be exciting to follow along with them on their blackout-inspired learning journey.
It does help when it's legal, though...

I love this cartoon, it says something (I suspect unwittingly) that is very true:
'You can only make people care about the environment by first making them wealthy.'
This election, Australians chose to keep powering on with renewables and storage - a solution to both the climate and cost of living crises.
@GoldingCartoons
Not thrilled at the options at todays federal election, can still enjoy a #democracysausage.

Only because it clearly needs to be restated. A nuclear power station cannot explode like a nuclear weapon.
They each seek different outcomes, and the engineering behind them lets them do one or the other, not both.

The cost of the nuclear roll-out reaching the trillions before the election was not on my bingo card.

Haven't noticed journos asking Peter Dutton about his nuclear costs after top energy analyst put the price at $4.3 TRILLION .. just sayin

The anti-nuclear political rhetoric leading into the Australian federal election boils down to this:
'The potential legalisation of nuclear power presents too great a risk to the established energy policy status quo.'

Ok, time to get back in the saddle. Sadly couldn’t recover my @QuixoticQuant account after it was hacked, despite multiple attempts. Here’s a little thread inspired by a recent trip to rural NSW. The country does’t love this energy transition. 1/

It’s wild to be riding shotgun to Australia’s best energy analyst basically single handedly conducting his own 2 year Royal Commission into the biggest scandal in the nation and the mainstream media is effectively silent, or cheerleading the other side.
The premise that there is even energy journalism in Australia is farcical. @QuixoticQuant has done all the heavy lifting and has dished up a national scandal on a silver platter and not a single journalist has the temerity to utter a whimper on the matter. All evidence is included and perfectly substantiated. No further work is required.
It is a total indictment on the journalistic standards and our political and information establishments.
There’s a Walkley staring you in the face and you don’t just ignore it, you actively hedge against it.
Shoutout @DrCameronMurray for platforming fellow mavericks - takes one to know one.
Why does Australia’s plan for “cheap electricity” look so different and more expensive than other nations?
@QuixoticQuant takes a deep dive into how the electricity market got political.
