Urban planners removing #BlueBadge parking must understand a private vehicle for many is not a ‘2 ton wheelchair’ it is feeding station, toileting facility, medical facility, place of safety, means of emergency escape etc. In short, a mobile life support system that many NEED.
An unmitigated disaster. Put mother in ambulance then headed 5 miles to hospital on TriRide. Couldn’t find her in the dept. Staff said they would find her. Nurse appears pushing her in her ♿️.
When in the history of the NHS has someone been seen 30 mins BEFORE their appt time ⁉️1/
My 92 y o mother and I are both wheelchair users only now she can’t work a power chair & I can’t push her in a manual chair. The hoops I have jumped through to get her patient transport for her hospital appt today, then I must get there on TriRide as she can’t do appt without me. #DisabledCarers
More questionable reporting from @yorkpress Council auditors undertook 146 fraud investigations, only 22 related to parking permits & some of those res park permits yet it’s blue badges that make the headline again with photo. Lazy journalism✅ #UnconciousBias
This a much more balanced and accurate report without the blue badge histrionics. Written by the same journalist oddly enough. teapawt.net/bbclooknorth/status/21…

When road crews show zero common sense, cyclists needn’t be surprised when they find pedestrians walking in the cycle track on a bend with no visibility. Owing to the kerb, pedestrians using wheelchairs are forced to turn around & go back. #AccessFail #SafetyFail
This photo from the Press regarding an incident in the market that police attended. Rather begs the question how any disabled person can get into either the accessible toilet or Changing Places toilet owing to the ridiculously placed roadworks signs⁉️#AccessFail
.@andyburnham pls act on Kasia’s message @10DowningStreet ‘You cannot make floating bus stops accessible because they are inherently wrong. There is nothing that can be done & the only way to make bus stops accessible & buses accessible is placing bus stops back on the pavement’
It’s that time of the year again where all the extra plinths get placed in front of shelving for Xmas, which coupled with general poor & thoughtless management of shop floor space means that unless you can shape shift you are royally #DisabledByTheSupermarkets

Our open letter to UK infection control leads went today.
Patients can be asked to remove their FFP2 or FFP3 mask, or swap it for a surgical one, while staff can now choose a respirator if treating a patient with respiratory symptoms.

.@Channel4News the PM @andyburnham @10DowningStreet turned down our invitation to mark International White Cane Safety Day 12/10/26 where many people travelled from across the county to explain their concerns over floating bus stops. Appearing on goggle box was more important 😢.

ALT Portcullis House Room with blind, deafblind & partially sighted people, visually impaired wheelchair users and a wheel chair user, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, Guide Dog Millie and others. People from Exeter, Essex, Leicestershire, Leeds, London - Waltham Forest, Hammersmith, Hackney & Tooting and Greater Manchester. All discussing the impact of Floating Bus Stops. All sat round a table.

.@andyburnham @10DowningStreet Words fail. We asked you to meet people affected by floating bus stops but you were too busy. If you were not so busy doing goggle box you could have met them including Sheila from Colchester fighting to protect her bus stops m.youtube.com/watch?v=CzLf8l…
Like to thank @JohnLThornton for coming up with this design for bus stops in cycle lanes…
Floating bus stops make disabled people cross a cycle lane just to catch a bus. There is a safer way: The Bike Aware Bus Stop. Passengers stay on the pavement. Cyclists keep a level, steady lane. Read the report: boldlytogo.blogspot.com/2026… #FloatingBusStops #Accessibility

ALT Aerial illustration of a red London bus stopped in a bus layby with its ramp down. A wheelchair user, a person with a guide dog, an older person and a parent with a buggy wait on the pavement. A red cycle lane with hatched markings passes alongside the bus, with cyclists and cargo bikes riding past.
.@InclusiveBuild message to @andyburnham @10DowningStreet during our mass petition to halt floating bus stops ‘I want a built environment that works for all, this includes bus stops. BS8300-1 gives guidance that pedestrians should not have to cross cycle lane to access bus stops’
🧵#TheExperiment Watched this closely. I think using disabled actors ‘playing a part’ & sensitivity to being exposed to ‘acting our own oppression’ allayed a lot of my fears over ethics. Some dark humour acting as a pressure release valve together with “lots of tears”. 1/
The coverage of the history at the start was powerful. It’s very much a hidden history and this was a powerful vehicle to expose a mainstream audience to it. As someone who has taught this history for years it’s easy to forget the visceral reactions to first exposure. 3/

I always included it in my DET. The lessons of history are invaluable.
However, I’m less certain about the ethics of an experiment to recreate it using disabled people. What have Channel 4 put in place for participants who experience mental distress as a result ? For how long ? After the controversy over participants in ‘Married at First Sight’ it’s concerning.
This makes me profoundly uncomfortable. But I shall reserve judgement and watch it. I believe the drip drip narrative of disabled people as ‘useless eaters’ never went away & now a pandemic & years of austerity have recreated the conditions of 100 years ago. #T4

.@CityPolice thank you for taking the time to produce this message to stop at red lights. It’s greatly appreciated.
