Calling all Wheelers ‼️ @WalkWheelCycleT your help.
Whether you’re arranging a day out or meeting friends for coffee, planning the journey shouldn’t feel like a military exercise.

Of course they are. Meanwhile the surrounding roads will be gridlocked. Well done Lord Khan - not!

Thank you @AdamGabsiLDN for supporting our mass petition against floating bus stops @10DowningStreet with your message @andyburnham ‘For the halt & removal of bus stop bypasses. They creating a danger an additional barrier to disabled people, to blind & partially sighted people’

The only defence of floating bus stops and excluding blind people from their buses that the @MayorofLondon has, is that cyclists shouldn’t break the law. But the data shows there is almost zero enforcement! thetimes.com/uk/transport/ar… @laurencesleator
No it’s not. People need buses to travel and black cabs for accessibility. Removing them from the street will prevent access for all. It’s a backwards step.
Just like car drivers these cycling offenders need to be fined or arrested if names can not be verified…..

This was entirely predictable. Cyclists aren't going to want to waste time and energy diverting down the side streets with all the obstacles and traffic lights. As usual the impact of new travel restrictions hasn't been properly thought through.

They haven't just diverted buses from Oxford Street; they've actually cut back several routes across central London. Along with restricted access for cars, taxis and cyclists this is hugely inconvenient for large numbers of transport users, including those with mobility issues.

This is clearly a superior design to floating bus stops, instead of asking cyclists to stop every time a pedestrian wishes to access or exit the bus stop, they are only asked to stop when the bus arrives or exits the stop. It also reflects the hierarchy of road users putting pedestrians first.
Floating bus stops make disabled people cross a cycle lane just to catch a bus. There is a safer way: The Bike Aware Bus Stop. Passengers stay on the pavement. Cyclists keep a level, steady lane. Read the report: boldlytogo.blogspot.com/2026… #FloatingBusStops #Accessibility

ALT Aerial illustration of a red London bus stopped in a bus layby with its ramp down. A wheelchair user, a person with a guide dog, an older person and a parent with a buggy wait on the pavement. A red cycle lane with hatched markings passes alongside the bus, with cyclists and cargo bikes riding past.
@JohnLThornton this design is also #BS8300-1 compliant, the entire concept of a floating bus stop isn't. Pedestrians don't have to cross cycle lanes to access the it, bus pulls up to the curb so the deployable ramp isn't too steep and pavement width is 2m as required by the BS.

Pedestrians are top of the hierarchy of road users in the Highway Code, this is clearly not working, @transportgovuk need to make their rules work and pavements usable.

Adding a cycle lane is not a repair, adding one where the road is too narrow to accommodate it is an act of stupidity.

Nobody knows if they will become #disabled, to get a built environment that works for all should be priority.
