Caitlin Clark didn’t WIN Eastern Conference Player of the Month for August. So THIS is the new baseline: 268 POINTS. 103 ASSISTS. 40 THREES. 486 DIRECT POINTS CREATED. Clark scored or directly assisted 44.8% of every point Indiana scored in August. And became the: FIRST PLAYER IN WNBA HISTORY WITH 250+ PTS + 100+ AST IN A CALENDAR MONTH. She didn’t win Player of the Month. So... SO THE EAST AND HER HAVE TO BETTER THAN THIS. Good luck. Now open the receipt. 🧾 THE AUGUST CASE: CAITLIN CLARK — THE NEW BASELINE 11 games. 24.4 PPG — No. 3 WNBA / No. 2 East 9.4 APG — No. 1 WNBA Totals: 268 PTS 103 AST 40 3PM Shooting: 47.5% FG 40.8% 3PT 60.3% TS From three: 3.6 MADE THREES PER GAME No. 3 WNBA No. 2 East And we're putting the turnovers on the receipt too: 50 TOV 4.5 TOV/G Against: 103 AST For a: 2.06 AST/TOV No hiding the mistakes. But we're definitely not hiding everything she created either. 486 DIRECT POINTS CREATED. Indiana scored: 1,085 POINTS in August. Clark scored: 268. Our assist-value audit credited another: 218 POINTS scored directly off her 103 assists. That's: 486. Or: 44.8% of Indiana's entire August scoring output. Per game: 44.2 DIRECT POINTS CREATED. Indiana went: 7–4 and averaged: 98.6 PPG. NOW FOLLOW THE PASSES. Because 103 assists is one number. Where those assists went tells you even more. CLARK → KELSEY MITCHELL 37 ASSISTS 83 POINTS CREATED CLARK → ALIYAH BOSTON 22 ASSISTS 48 POINTS CREATED Combined: 59 ASSISTS 131 POINTS CREATED FOR MITCHELL + BOSTON. Now reverse it. MITCHELL + BOSTON → CLARK 8 ASSISTS 19 POINTS CREATED So Clark directly created 131 points for Indiana's other two stars. Mitchell and Boston directly created 19 for Clark. That's what some of those 103 assists actually looked like. THEN THERE'S THE MONTH ITSELF. Clark averaged: 24.4 PPG 9.4 APG That made August just the: THIRD 20+ PPG / 9+ APG CALENDAR MONTH IN WNBA HISTORY. The first two? ALSO CAITLIN CLARK. Three such months have existed. Clark owns: ALL THREE. At some point she really is competing with herself. THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE. Clark produced: 6 POINTS-ASSISTS DOUBLE-DOUBLES IN 11 GAMES. Aug. 2 @ Minnesota 19 PTS / 10 AST / 2 3PM Aug. 8 @ Chicago 26 PTS / 11 AST / 5 3PM Aug. 11 vs. New York 22 PTS / 10 AST / 4 3PM Aug. 14 vs. Dallas 29 PTS / 10 AST / 2 3PM Aug. 23 @ Chicago 37 PTS / 10 AST / 8 3PM Aug. 28 vs. Connecticut 34 PTS / 12 AST / 6 3PM Those six games alone: 167 POINTS. 63 ASSISTS. 27 THREES. THE AUGUST PERFORMANCE LADDER This might be my favorite part. 11 OF 11 games with 7+ assists. 9 OF 11 games with 20+ points. 5 OF 11 games with 20+ PTS / 10+ AST. 4 OF 11 games with 25+ PTS / 10+ AST. 2 OF 11 games with 30+ PTS / 10+ AST. 9 GAMES WITH 20+ PTS / 7+ AST. And: 3 GAMES WITH 5+ THREES. She made: 5, 8, 6 in those three. THEN COME THE RECORD RUNS. SIX STRAIGHT 20+ PTS / 5+ AST TIED HER OWN WNBA RECORD. And this was already her: SECOND 6-GAME RUN THIS SEASON. Then inside the month: THREE STRAIGHT 20+ PTS / 10+ AST That's the: LONGEST STREAK IN WNBA HISTORY. Another record. And then she closed August with: BACK-TO-BACK 30+ PTS / 10+ AST The: FIRST PLAYER IN WNBA HISTORY TO DO IT. AND LOOK AT THE FINISH. AUG. 23 @ CHICAGO 37 PTS 10 AST 8 THREES Then: AUG. 28 vs. CONNECTICUT 34 PTS 12 AST 6 THREES Two games. 71 POINTS. 22 ASSISTS. 14 THREES. That's how she closed the month. ONLY 4 SUCH GAMES EXIST IN THE HISTORY OF THE WNBA EVER NOT NAMED CLARK. CHICAGO AND CONNECTICUT WERE GAME 5 AND 6 FOR CLARK IN HER CAREER WITH SUCH NUMBERS. AND THE HARDWARE WAS THERE TOO. 🏆 WNBA EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK 🏆 WNBA EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK 🏆 AP PLAYER OF THE WEEK Two WNBA weekly awards. One AP weekly award. During the same August in which she produced: 268 PTS 103 AST 40 3PM 24.4 PPG 9.4 APG 47.5 FG% 40.8 3PT% 60.3 TS% 486 DIRECT POINTS CREATED 44.8% OF INDIANA'S AUGUST POINTS 44.2 DIRECT POINTS CREATED PER GAME 6 POINTS-ASSISTS DOUBLE-DOUBLES 11 OF 11 WITH 7+ ASSISTS 9 OF 11 WITH 20+ POINTS 5× 20+ / 10+ 4× 25+ / 10+ 2× 30+ / 10+ 3 GAMES WITH 5+ THREES 6 STRAIGHT 20+ / 5+ — TIED OWN WNBA RECORD 3 STRAIGHT 20+ / 10+ — WNBA RECORD BACK-TO-BACK 30+ / 10+ — FIRST EVER FIRST 250+ PTS / 100+ AST CALENDAR MONTH THIRD 20+ PPG / 9+ APG MONTH IN WNBA HISTORY And the other two? ALSO HERS. Kelsey Mitchell won Eastern Conference Player of the Month. She had an incredible August. She earned it. And this isn't about taking her award away. It's about what the result means for Caitlin Clark going forward. Because apparently: THIS WASN'T ENOUGH. So now we know the baseline. 268 points. 103 assists. 40 threes. 486 directly created. A pile of records. Three weekly awards. And history almost everywhere you look. Next time? DO BETTER THAN THIS. Good luck. The game leaves receipts. 🧾✓ #WNBA #CaitlinClark #IndianaFever #KelseyMitchell
