In 2019, my Dutch university got hacked as well (ransomware attack). They paid €200k in Bitcoin to regain access to our student data. The Dutch police then tracked the money and the money launderers online. After the legal proceedings ended (2022), my uni got its €200k back, now worth €500k thanks to Bitcoin's run. They were forced to believe in Bitcoin :D
‼️ Hackers stole the passwords of everyone registered on a portal of Germany's Technical University of Munich, plus their names, home addresses and dates of birth. One stolen login belonged to an administrator of TUMonline, the campus system that runs student records. The attackers turned it on that system too, and TUM has taken it offline. The data also covers students' ID numbers and degree programmes, and staff work addresses and phone numbers. TUM believes grades were not touched. TUM has not said how many people are hit. Accounts with multi-factor login were safe.

Oc, costs of replacing the IT system were way higher than the ransom amount

Have you tried Claude with REA? I just run Opus 5.5 on Ultracode and give it the SaaS tool I want to reverse-engineer. It might take half a day, but you end up with your own version, no subscriptions and the freedom to adjust it to your needs. I want to do it with Ableton next, but it might be a lot more expensive :D github.com/morluto/rea

We’ve seen this before. In 2017, VW CEO Matthias Müller saw no real competition in Tesla. He doubted its ability to deliver (80,000 cars a year back then) and said it was just burning money. His focus was on the past and present. Today, Tesla opens plants while VW closes them. Now it's SpaceX vs. Telekom. Let’s see how it ends this time.
JUST IN: SpaceX needs at least $200 billion to enter wireless once you add up spectrum, towers, and antennas, according to Deutsche Telekom CEO, who says "welcome to the party" Tim Höttges (CEO): “And by the way, I take his attempt serious. He has now bought 76 megahertz of spectrum. By the way, we have 400 megahertz. So if you now say, okay, he can buy the spectrum prospectively, do your math. These are kind of triple digit billions, which are needed to gain the spectrum position. Okay, if he has the money, go for it." "Then he has to build a network. I can tell you, we have 85,000 towers. No, he can rent towers, no question. But this is another 20 billion to 30 billion, which are required. Put antennas on it. Okay, you can buy antennas and you can get maybe even in a cheaper way or you construct it in a new way, but you need money for that." "So therefore, my assessment is that SpaceX at least if they want to play in that industry needs at least minimum 200 billion, but even beyond that to play in an industry, which we have, let’s say, professionalized over the last twenty years. Okay, welcome to the party.”

Mac user canon event: choosing more RAM but not more storage. Now 1 TB is what 512 GB was two years ago. Time for Mole to clean it up.

Have you seen this pointing finger here on X before? Just wanted to quote my post. Guess they want me to boost it :D

I will never forget my first paying app user He left a one-star review bc my app wasn't accessible to him as a blind person. I pushed an update & he subscribed. Even if the odds seem low, you should try VoiceOver at least once to experience how blind users navigate your apps.

One of the most important skills today? Ignoring the noise around you, like “coding is dead" Just spent a few hundred hours learning data engineering (Python, PostgreSQL, Pandas, MongoDB) for the joy of learning AI will do most of the work, but fundamentals will always matter

Getting rid of Supabase and self-hosting PostgreSQL was one of the best decisions I could’ve made. Great ROI, and the joy of figuring it all out.

I once scheduled my app to launch in 3 weeks, hoping to get nominated by Apple. Didn’t work out. Don’t do it. Ship faster!

The X algorithm is aggressive. You click on one hiring post and five minutes later your entire feed is just job openings. :D

Just the number of businesses you can build by focusing on one specific market like Germany, with its strict GDPR data privacy rules, is huge. Maybe you just need to niche down.

Selling tiny software tools is dead! I easily get distracted when I post on X. I end up doomscrolling instead of just posting and closing the tab again. What did I do? @bot gave me the iOS code for a desktop widget in just 5 minutes. All I had to do was go to developer.x.com, create my own native app, get my OAuth 2.0 Client ID and connect it to the app. FYI, if you set up a payment method, you get $20 in free credits to play around with. 3 requests/posts cost me $0.03 in credits. Right now, if I were to pay for such a tiny tool, I'd only be willing to pay a one-time fee. My laziness would have to outweigh my stinginess to pay someone else :D Everyone will build their own tiny tools.
It's not about making money People don't get it People pay $20/mo to Anthropic or ChatGPT so it helps them with their daily activities Instead of $20/mo to Adobe + $20/mo Canva + $20/mo to Microsoft 365 + $20/mo to Grammarly + $20/mo to Squarespace etc.

Starting this one now. Don’t forget that reading books without taking action is just another form of procrastination.
Just finished Steve Jobs in Exile and will start this one next. S/O @colejaczko, where I first saw it.

I hate furniture supply chains. What do you mean, the wooden chair I saw in your store takes 16 weeks to be delivered?!

Okay, I found out that the APIs I need are currently unavailable in the UK and EU markets. @tiktok_de, let me know when it’s our turn.
I really need that TikTok Business API access. Lmk if anyone has experience with it!

Feels like it’s easier than ever to build software, but also harder to focus on one project without getting distracted by new models and claims that coding is dead. Even spending the first few hours of the day without my phone felt like a challenge at first. Now, I have one tech-free day every week.

Claude session limit but for your X feed. You can put your phone in another room, but on desktop the X distraction is only one tab away. I coded my own Chrome extension with Opus 5.5 to limit myself to 100 posts and stop the endless desktop doomscrolling. You can customize the design, number of posts and reset time.
