There is also a strong schmittian tendancy on the left not just to divide people into enemy and friend catagories but to activitely convert friends into enemies making close allies even closer enemies.

"There exists not a single confirmed death caused by the recent French protests and riots, which makes rioting in France safer than attending an American school. Funny how “pro-life” Republicans can wail all fucking day about property damage but somehow struggle to muster that same outrage when American schoolchildren are slaughtered in their classrooms." -Oliver Kornetzke

Worth a read
Seeing some Marxists dismiss the student-led protests in France reminds me of Marx’s 1843 letter to Ruge. He urged us to enter into real struggles, identify with them, and help people understand what they’re fighting for. Criticism has to begin with the struggle itself.

"“We don’t have a king” is an idiotic reply to “No Kings” protests because it deliberately misses the rhetorical point in favor of pedantic literalism. The slogan is not a claim that a crowned monarch sits on a throne in Washington; it is a deliberate historical allusion to the American Revolution’s rejection of concentrated, unaccountable executive power, exactly the kind of power critics argue is being claimed or exercised through expansive claims of presidential immunity, norm-breaking, cult-of-personality politics, or efforts to subordinate independent institutions. Pointing out that the United States is a constitutional republic rather than a formal monarchy is a non-sequitur: it assumes the protesters are too stupid to know the basic form of government, when the actual argument is that certain behaviors or doctrines threaten the republican safeguards that were meant to prevent king-like rule. Effective disagreement would engage the substance, whether specific actions truly exceed constitutional bounds or merely reflect ordinary partisan exercise of power, rather than pretending the metaphor is a category error."
