John Anderson wrote "Seminole Wind" about the Florida he grew up in-Apopka orange groves, the Everglades, Lake Okeechobee, and the old stories of Osceola. It's not just a pretty country song.
It's him watching the swamps get drained and the land change, and still feeling the pull of that place anyway.
The wind in the chorus isn't just weather.
It's the idea that the old Florida is still moving through the new one, even if most people can't see it anymore. Anderson carried that with him the rest of his career.
The song stayed regional in the best way, and native Floridians have treated it like an unofficial anthem for decades.

''Most people, including Aerosmith's biggest fans, have no idea what a complete and true masterpiece this song track is. It may take listening to 1000 times, but once you see the inner-workings of "What it Takes," you have this "holy sh*t" moment when you realize the magnitude of its complexity.''
