AEK and Real Madrid face each other in the Champions League tonight. And believe it or not, the two teams have history more intertwined then you would think.
Real Madrid in fact is referred to every time AEK plays at home in fact. Why? Because Real Madrid is mentioned in the lyrics of AEK's official anthem that is sung before every match. Specifically we sing:
"The terror of Real Madrid, became your name." Meaning AEK of course.
But how did that line come to be? On May 12th 1965, Real Madrid came to Athens to play a friendly match against AEK. The match finished 3-3 with the scorers of AEK being Papageorgiou and Papaioannou. Real Madrid's scorers were Puskas, Pirri, and Bueno.
Papaioannou, scored two of the goals for AEK and attracted the interest of Real Madrid. Real Madrid made an offer to AEK for the captain, but AEK refused to let the legend go. This made Papaioannou dissapointed, and he decided to quit football.
Papaioannou was friends with legendary Greek singer and AEK fan Stelios Kazantzidis. Papaioannou decided to follow the singer on a tour in Germany and even sing together. Eventually Papaioannou returned to his love AEK, and came back with a song. Our official anthem that he sings and mentions that AEK is the terror of Real Madrid reffering to that friendly match in 1965.
Papaioannou is one of the legends of AEK, and is on one of the four pillars of AEK's stadium Agia Sofia.
The history does not stop there. AEK has faced Real Madrid 4 times officially in European competitions.

Inače ljudi napadaju samo Daloa ovde ali isečak počinje kada Junajted gubi posed. Jasno da je Dalo u posedu stojao visoko po instrukciji štaba, nije sam tako odlučio.
