Just visited this very same place today @EkoLogIt, it does not look quite as great in winter - without the carpet of Carex brizoides...

Did you know that the quaking sedge (Carex brizoides) ⬇️ was used as straw mattress by german soldiers during WWI? This place in the Mormal forest 🇨🇵, which is a carpet full of the quaking sedge, must have been a former camp site...

This morning, @EkoLogIt & @eva_gril gave two talks at the RENECOFOR @ONF_Officiel meeting about forest microclimate, one on the #MORFO and one on the #IMPRINT project. Kudos to the ~100 foresters who attended, and all who did and continue to help us to measure forest temperature!

Tonight, @EkoLogIt and @eva_gril are downloading #microclimate data from @TOMSTloggers at the #RENECOFOR meeting! @ONF_Officiel agents brought their sensors with them, so we gathered almost a full year of data (and it's only the beginning)..🌡️
