As an asylum seeker in South Africa, I agree that we are living in fear and that our safety is increasingly at risk. The ongoing unrest, violence between foreign nationals and citizens , and foreign nationals killing police officers have made the situation deeply concerning. Our lives are in danger, and this is no longer a situation we can ignore.
We urgently appeal to you to work with your government and relevant international organisations to arrange safe relocation for asylum seekers to a country where we can live without fear of violence or persecution.
We need a practical, humane solution that protects our lives and dignity. No one should have to live in constant fear for their safety. 🙏🏽

Illegal immigrants must be treated cold, harshly, calculative and as inhumanely as possible.
They must get it in their thick skull that they are not wanted.
“The South African xenophobic attacks have not seem to deter the African from moving to South Africa. Despite major outbreaks in 2008,2015 and 2019, the country still sees millions of Africans coming to fight the South African for their high unemployment, inequality and weak economic growth…. “
The rest is BULL 💩 posed to sound well informed but still failing to highlight that being in a country illegally is a crime and we are tired of importing the poorest of the poor despite being the poor ourselves
South Africa’s xenophobic attacks have not demonstrably improved its economy. Since the major outbreaks of 2008, 2015 and 2019, the country has continued to struggle with high unemployment, inequality and weak economic growth. Although the economy has recorded periods of growth, there is no credible evidence that xenophobic violence caused these improvements.
Instead, attacks on foreign nationals destroy businesses, jobs and property, discourage investment, damage South Africa’s international reputation and strain relations with other African countries. While concerns about unemployment, illegal immigration and pressure on public services are legitimate, blaming foreigners for what happens does not address the structural problems of corruption, inadequate infrastructure, weak job creation and economic exclusion.
Economic nationalism without sound economic policy is a dead end with no hope of light. A country does not become wealthier simply by removing competitors; it becomes wealthier by creating jobs, supporting productive businesses, attracting investment and strengthening institutions.
And for the African leaders, the lesson here is very clear we cannot preach African integration and economic cooperation while turning against fellow Africans. The real question is not how to drive foreigners out, but how to build an economy in which citizens can prosper without treating other Africans as enemies.
