I wanna come back to this in light of Skerritts passing because its a defining moment for me in the franchise and in my love for Skerritt as an actor. He was such an embodiment of a classic stoicism and strength that proverbial rock you lean on, and this severely relatable bit of fear, and vulnerability...man...its not what he says (writer) its how he says it (actor)... that kids is also range

The head back and up indicating exhaustion from fear, then the explicit admission "I wanna get the hell out of here" the cool is OFF

Clocking in as a defender of Nicolas Winding Refn’s HER PRIVATE HELL, a film that requires you to meet it on its singular wavelength. Pino Donaggio’s gorgeous fairytale-esque score elevates the neon-noir dreamscape. Plus Refn uplifts Charles Melton to marquee level hunk status.

Colman Domingo just delivered a monologue that I would normally find a bit cringe in such a way my body tingled for a few minutes after the scene was done. Sometimes I be wanting him to sit his ass down and let us miss him, but then he does shit like that and Im like "Fuck it, keep it going"

can i just say how incredible it is that, in an industry constantly flooding us with adaptations, reboots, and sequels, a film as original and daring as mother mary can still break through and remind us of the beauty, power, and necessity of stories we haven’t seen before

Morton's Circe has a literary history as varied as any character in literature, the perception moving morphing across time, the script provides implication, an outline, some bones, but Morton fills it lungs up with air, provides a history merged (IN THE PERFORMANCE) its a performance that seems to have an entire movie behind it, that slipped i to this one. She is given lane and she jumps from the free throw line. Its in her eyes, her hands as they move across faces, shaping and molding with rage and (some care too) ..her "shut up" to her sister (HISTORY)

I have to believe that people criticizing this, all over again, have never acted in an intense scene in their entire lives.
Gunn, as the director, is giving Corenswet great analysis and emotional intelligence about the scene. He's laying it out clearly where Superman needs to be coming from emotionally to nail this monologue. It's great stuff.
And miss me with that you don't put your fingers on an actor bullshit. They clearly have that kind of relationship or David would've swatted Gunn's hands away.
And when David walks away, it's because he gets it and wants to do it immediately before he loses the moment and the emotion.
I know people wanna fully turn on Gunn now, and I've certainly had my issues with his comments or how he's handled some things, but it's foolish to paint this as toxic in any way. Especially if you've never been on a set or on a stage doing an intense monologue or scene in your life.
