Israel can’t restart the war against Iran without explicit approval from the US.
There has been speculation that Netanyahu might try to accidentally on purpose provoke a resumption of war with Iran, in hopes of helping him in his election. The Israeli chief of staff appears to share that concern.

There is a full-scale plan at play to rehabilitate Israel on the world stage so it can shed its responsibility for continuing to commit genocide.

While the border remains open on the Iranian side, Pakistani authorities are grappling with a sudden and suspiciously convenient e-form glitch that is allegedly behind this fiasco. Perhaps Islamabad should hire competent professionals to manage border control so we can avoid such costly trade disruptions.
Clarification Regarding Reports on the Closure of Iranian Borders to Pakistan With regard to reports concerning the closure of Iranian borders to Pakistan, I would like to clarify a few important points here: First, there are currently no restrictions on the Iranian side on the export of Iranian goods to Pakistan, including LPG. Iran's borders with all its neighboring countries remain open. Naturally and rationally, under the prevailing circumstances, it would be neither logical nor in the interests of either side for Iran to close its borders to its immediate neighbors, particularly brotherly Pakistan. Second, changes in the implementation of Pakistan's E-Form procedure for imports from Iran have created a situation in which traders are effectively and literally unable to dispatch cargo from Iran to Pakistan. Consultations with the Pakistani side are currently underway to address this issue. Third, according to reports, several hundred trucks carrying LPG have crossed the Rimdan border into Gabd on the Pakistani side. However, despite having remained there for several weeks, these trucks have yet to be unloaded or cleared, further complicating the movement of goods and the smooth flow of bilateral trade. Finally, I would like to emphasize that cross-border trade between Iran and Pakistan is an integral part of the bilateral agreements reached at the highest levels. It serves the mutual interests of both countries and their people. Iran has made every possible effort, leaving no stone unturned, to facilitate and promote this essential bilateral trade. We remain committed to continuing these efforts in close coordination with our Pakistani counterparts to overcome existing challenges, facilitate the movement of goods, and strengthen economic cooperation between our two brotherly countries.

Imran Khan (July 2019): "I’m not sure whether all the countries realize the gravity of the situation if there’s a conflict with Iran. People don’t understand, you know, this is not going to be the same as Iraq. This could be much, much, much worse." Speaking at the US Institute of Peace in Washington DC, the then-Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan warned directly against a military conflict with Iran. Key excerpts from his address: • "...the Shia element in Islam is very cohesive. They have a much greater sense of martyrdom..." • "The battle might be quite short...bombing airfields and so on... But the consequences after that... not many people fully understand it." • "I would strongly urge that there should not be... another military situation... The last thing we want is another conflict on our borders." This should help the world understand why Imran Khan is in jail today. He stands with the oppressed, stands for sovereignty, and leads the Movement for Justice in Pakistan.

I understand Pakistan has to balance its relations with the US-Israel, but adopting Hasbara-style narratives to target Iran is a poor choice. It should stick to backchannel diplomacy rather than toeing Tel Aviv’s line via Washington DC.
Another round of escalation between US and Iran looks inevitable but there's a pattern -- Every time an escalation cycle between US and Iran is near to its approach, the Iranians start sending calculated leaks and messages that "they are close to a deal" but in reality they're not, and the reality is that pushing parties towards the escalation cycle is also Iran's doing for their inability to respond intime, follow through on their commitment or respond through the same channel(s).

Im so sick of these liberal Zionist freaks. What were IDF *soldiers* doing in Hebron? Huh Brad? Please spare us your kumbaya bullshit about violence not being the answer. Over 500 Palestinians per year are murdered by Israelis in the West Bank. And you aren’t even willing to support a simple trade protest by American citizens. GTFOH.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

I've compared 2022 coup against Imran Khan in Pakistan to 1997 Turkish coup against Necmettin Erbakan; the motives, methods, and outcomes are especially similar. This passage by Erik Zurcher on late 1990s Turkiye, minus the Kemalism, could've been writ abt 2020s Pakistan.

The UAE holds a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card with Washington due to its normalisation of relations with Israel. At the same time, Abu Dhabi and Moscow share a cozy partnership tied to the plundering of African gold, where former Wagner mercenaries leverage UAE’s military and logistics hubs.
The US and Russia seem to be pushing for the next UN Secretary General to be a UAE official, @Lana_Nusseibeh, who has helped underwrite mass murder and mass rape in Sudan and then lied about it, as she is doing here.

Rawalpindi’s military media envoy is using Gwadar Chamber chief Mir Naveed Kalmati to back Asim Munir’s claim that the Iran border is open, but commerce sources say that is false. Taftan remains completely shut. The Commerce Ministry has not restored the EIF waiver, leaving customs unable to process goods. The only movement is at Gabd, where local officials are manually pushing stranded LPG tankers through to stop a domestic fuel panic, not because commercial trade has actually resumed.
Pakistan-Iran border at Gabd-Rimdan crossing finally opened today from both sides after the closure of few days. Credit goes to the a President of Gawadar Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mir Naveed Kalamati who raised voice against the closure in #CapitalTalk now the prices of the LPG will come down in Pakistan by this evening because thousands of containers loaded with LPG will enter in Pakistan in next few hours.

When people claim you can’t critique Pakistan as a Pakistani American because you live in the US, a country bankrolling endless wars and unconditionally backing Isræel’s genocìde against Palestinians, they miss the point entirely. Living in America doesn't mean defending it; we call out US atrocities precisely as citizens in Pakistan should call out the military establishment’s brutality in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, not even mentioning AJK here. Neither state is innocent, and staying silent is complicity in both cases. Despots and corrupt institutions use our taxes to enrich themselves and fund forever wars. But there is a delicate difference: Washington exports its violence abroad, mostly, while Pakistan’s security establishment turns that violence inward on its own citizens.

Through USAID, Washington projects soft power across the developing world. Anyone paying close attention to Hillary Clinton knows she says as much with pride. The under 30 crowd might find it difficult to understand the reference.
It is a feature of programs like Fulbright that it leaves these people incapable of meaningfully criticizing the empire beyond empty slogans. Like can you identify a single USAID scholar who has spoken against the regime change in Pakistan? Shehzada Ghias, Mehrub, etc all all Fulbright scholars. They do not contribute shit to Pakistan, neither do they help the people of the country who gave them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

On Wednesday, New York politician Brad Lander called Israel's occupation a crime. On Friday, he described the killing of two Israeli soldiers in the illegally occupied West Bank a "criminal act." The two soldiers were killed at an illegal Israeli military checkpoint near Hebron, in territory where the International Court of Justice ruled in 2024 that Israel’s continued presence is unlawful. Under international humanitarian law, military personnel are generally legitimate targets, and attacking them is not in itself a war crime, unlike deliberately targeting civilians. The act of armed resistance is “criminal,” however, under Israeli military law, which Israel unlawfully imposes on Palestinians in the illegally occupied West Bank. The UN General Assembly has repeatedly affirmed "the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples" against "foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle," most notably in Resolution 37/43 in 1982. No civilians were reported killed in Friday's operation.

And Brad Lander is tight with Zohran Mamdani.
Good real time example of how Palestinian suffering in the West Bank, specifically at the hands of Israeli settlers, has become an exploitative photo op and cred boosting escapade for American liberal Zionists like Lander. He condemns the ‘ethnic cleansing’ and settlers while simultaneously offering condolences for the soldiers tasked with maintaining, overseeing and enforcing said ethnic cleansing & genocide (never-mind his material support for and profiting off of Elbit Systems). He says in this same statement that he, after his brief apartheid tourism, believes there is a way to end the violence (better than Palestinians themselves it seems) — yet he’s the same guy who has stood staunchly against the bare minimum non-violent strategy of BDS.

Afghan mercenaries are being used against locals in KP, and similarly against insurgents in Balochistan.
There have been many reports that Pakistan is arming Afghans to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan. Now there are reports that the Pakistani military is recruiting Afghans to fight against anti-Pakistan insurgents. As things currently stand, relations between #Afghanistan and #Pakistan are likely to get much worse.
