The Pentagon quietly built an agency to covertly sabotage technology it considers a threat and hasn’t mentioned it once in public.

Almost every holiday you celebrate is built on pagan bones, Christmas included. Halloween means whatever you make it mean, and a costume and a bowl of candy have never threatened anyone’s soul.

It's strange how comfortable people have become with the idea that government should prevent every possible bad outcome. Freedom necessarily includes the possibility of making terrible decisions, wasting money, taking risks, and living in ways other people find foolish. A society that tries to eliminate every risk eventually eliminates the individual's right to decide which risks are worth taking.

Imagine telling someone they are free to live however they choose, then handing them a 70,000-page instruction manual explaining all the ways they can be fined, taxed, licensed, surveilled, or imprisoned for doing so. We've allowed politicians to turn ordinary human existence into a regulated privilege, and somehow they've convinced millions of people that demanding their permission is the price of civilization.
