The idea of a white immigrant "explaining" to @ninaturner what it means to be American when the *last* of our ancestors arrived in the early 1800s is rich. (My ancestors were here before America existed).
Note also that he drafted this tweet in defense of corporate lobbying efforts subverting Democracy. Who wants to expain how un-American that is to Jonathan?

All 4 of my grandparents are from Oklahoma. My 4th great Grandfather was chief of the Creek nation and he owned slaves. One of those slaves was my 4th great grandmother. They had a child together and he is listed as a Freedmen, as was his mom.
Being lynched for murdering a cop isn't the same as someone being lynched for being Black in the wrong place at the wrong time. And let's not talk about people being animals when the whole gangster culture began with Italians.
Except slavery in America was based on race, unlike in others places it was usually based on culture or religion. Race based slavery is the reason why you had things like the One drop rule and Black Codes.
This sounds like projection 🤔 Immigrants were never a topic of conversation in our household, but I've heard plenty of 1st gens talk about how their parents told them to stay away from Black Americans.
