The Friars have won their two exhibition games by an average of 25 POINTS!
And what’s crazy is they’re doing this WITHOUT four all-conference players from last season:
🏀 Derek Simpson – First Team All-A-10
🏀 Devin Vanterpool – Third Team All-American Conference
🏀 Ryan Sabol – Third Team All-MAC
🏀 Joe Pinion – Third Team All-American Conference
FOUR all-conference players potentially joining a team that’s already dominating Power 5 competition.

Providence has now disposed of two ACC teams --- Georgia Tech and Pitt --- in back-to-back weeks at Amica Mutual Pavilion by an average margin of victory of 25.5 PPG. 41 assists on 69 made field goals during that span. Open on 11/2 vs. Maine.

Losing Derek Simpson and Joe Pinion after today’s court hearing definitely hurts, but let’s not forget that Providence still has a really good roster capable of making noise this season.
This is the risk we took trying to take advantage of the 5-for-5 rule. We took a swing, and unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if some of these players at other schools who were granted eligibility under the same rule end up getting ruled ineligible as the season goes on.
Oh well. It is what it is. Time to move forward.

St. John’s fans are having emotional breakdowns already.
Providence fans are talking a lot of shit about other programs having players eligible and are mad that Dink Pate could t spell S-A-T and therefore he won’t be playing…once the season starts and they are in the tank by December they are going to be hate watching Illinois hoping Vaaks gets injured. That is what this pukes live for. I get New England winters are cold and gloomy but the behavior of these bottom feeders it predictable and disgusting. Get a life guys!

Imagine being so obsessed with Providence basketball that you take the time to create a fake college admissions essay just to clown a 20-year-old kid.
The funniest part is you actually thought this was clever. 😂
Rick Pitino finally made St. John’s relevant again after decades of irrelevance, and somehow their fans are STILL more concerned with Providence than their own program.
Pitino can rebuild the basketball program, but apparently he can’t fix the fanbase.

Another HUGE takeaway from today’s exhibition against Pitt…
We just dominated a Power 5 program by 25 points while missing FOUR players who are expected to play significant minutes, with some potentially starting. That should tell you something about the depth and potential of this team.
A few player observations:
🔥 Page was AWESOME. Kid can flat-out play, but he has to be smarter. Can’t be picking up unnecessary technical fouls like that late in games.
💪 Byrd is a grown man playing against boys defensively. His physicality and defensive presence are going to be a PROBLEM for opponents.
🎯 Malik Mack is going to lead this team in assists. Love his vision and ability to run the offense.
📈 Mela looks ready to take another leap this season. You can see the development.
⭐ And MARAGON!!! I think I just found my new favorite Friar. Absolutely love what this kid brings to the floor.
I know it’s only an exhibition, but there’s a LOT to be excited about with this group. The energy, depth, toughness, and coaching already feel different.
