🌿🐨 Koalas spend just 10 mins a day on the ground, but a UQ study found ~2/3 of koala deaths happen in those moments, mostly vehicle strikes & dog attacks. Slow down on Northern Rivers roads. See one on the road? Call 02 6622 1233 👇 abc.net.au/news/science/2025…
If Polar Star, Charlotte & Ivy are our resident girl gang, Ivy is the ringleader. She's famously not shy of an audience, we suspect she knows exactly when a camera's pointed her way! Happy and healthy, hanging with her best mates. What would you like to know about Ivy? 🐨 #koala
🐨 Father's Day is Sunday 6 September, still need a gift? A Friends of the Koala adoption helps fund care for sick, injured & orphaned koalas at our hospital, and Dad gets a certificate and photo of his own koala too 🎁 #FathersDayGift #KoalaAdoption ow.ly/Ba0n50ZESib
An update on Chiko: the plate and screws from his first leg surgery haven't done their job as hoped, so he's had a second surgery to remove them. We're now hoping his body can form its own natural repair around the fracture with time and rest. Stay strong, Chiko. 🐨💙 #koalacare
Cute koala photo? Contact stays minimal. We want every koala in our care to stay wild & wary of people, so they thrive once released. We follow the NSW Code of Practice for wildlife rehab: quiet enclosures, limited handling, always in their best interest. ow.ly/qyFs50ZERXT
Wild #koalas typically live 10-15 years, and often much less due to #habitatloss, vehicle strikes and disease. Our girl Wendy defied the odds, rescued as a joey in 2005, she was found again decades later at twenty years old! 🐨 A truly remarkable story.

Cloud was admitted in mid July with signs of chlamydia, cystitis and some kidney concerns. He started on IV fluids and remains in hospital, where our team keeps a close eye on him. Fingers crossed for this young fellow. 🐨 Support his care: ow.ly/FT9L50ZzU6w
🚗🐨⚠️ Drive carefully. Many Northern Rivers roads pass through koala habitat, and koalas are hardest to spot at dawn, dusk & night. A few extra seconds could save a life. Save our 24hr rescue hotline:02 6622 1233 youtube.com/watch?v=lDiJVt5c…

Carissa came into our care in late June with signs of chlamydia, along with her pouch young, Rue. She is now on treatment and under close watch from our vet team. Fingers crossed for this gorgeous duo! 🐨 Support their care: ow.ly/VamT50ZzTjk
Polar Star is our quiet showstopper. She was discovered as a tiny joey riding on her mum's back during a routine health check, and named for how she stood out, bright as a little star.
If you could ask us anything about her, what would it be? 🐨
Ten of our team headed to Port Macquarie for the National Koala Conference 2026! Angie & Maria gave presentations, & we had 4 posters on display, including one from Kate on our hospital expansion. We came home with fresh ideas to help even more koalas. 🐨 ow.ly/yV3s50ZzMOo
Bunyip is back in our care. Just a month after release, he's been readmitted with head trauma & suspected concussion, a reminder of how quickly things can change in the wild.
Resting with pain relief, eye meds & antibiotics.

🐨 UQ scientists are building a koala sperm & egg bank, collecting reproductive cells from koalas at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital to preserve genetic diversity. It's not a fix on its own, but one more tool alongside habitat protection & disease research 👇 smithsonianmag.com/smart-new…
🎉 One Year On: A year ago we broke ground on our #KoalaHospital Expansion. Thanks to this community, that's turned into real progress, new spaces, better facilities, everything our koalas deserve. Not finished yet, but so proud of how far we've come 💚 ow.ly/aH7S50ZzALI
Our team got called out to a tagged koala found on a pool fence in Goonellabah. As our vets checked him over, they realised who he was. Duke! A year ago he came in with severe chlamydia, body condition 3/10. Today he's 8/10 and thriving. 💚 #koalarescue #koalarelease
This year's #InternationalYouthDay theme is "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations." On the Northern Beaches, that means real barriers behind an assumption of affluence. Every young person deserves the chance to reach their potential. ow.ly/FTlV50Zx0g2
🐨 The QLD Govt has approved a 55.3ha masterplan beside Dreamworld, incl. a $200M hotel & housing. 68 koalas were surveyed within 2km of the site. Conservationists are calling for Federal assessment under environmental law. We'll be watching this closely. blooloop.com/news/dreamworld…
🎉 Otter is HOME! 🐨
Four year old Otter from Larnook battled a fungal infection & spent time rebuilding condition after months in care, but on 28 July he was finally released back to the wild! Thank you to everyone who cared for this handsome boy. 💛 #koalarelease #koalahabitat
🐨🤝🌿 Koala breeding season is here. Koalas face growing pressure from habitat loss, vehicle strikes, dog attacks & disease, but small actions add up. Slow down, secure your dog, restore habitat, report injuries. Protecting koalas takes all of us.
