An insightful discussion right after a panel with local representatives Nebojša Ilić of Šid, Dragan Mladenović of Obrenovac, Mirela Dupovac of Hadzići, and Elmedin Mehadzić of Bihać about the reality in their municipalities and the uncertainties the EU Pact generates in them.

We are in Bologna with the colleagues Form @movingcities_eu and @_Seebruecke_ @Seebruecke_intl for two days exchanging with city representatives and fellow civil society organisations to continue to build up momentum and democratic robustness against hostile national stances.

THREAD!

We cannot stress enough, the need for municipalities to be regarded as key allies in the implementation phase. Deterrence at any cost will push more people seeking protection into more vulnerable situations. The Pact's shortcomings will be most felt at local level. @hydrodiplomat

We shared our #resistance experience to closed ports policy & presented concerns on the Pact's narrative and implementation at local level.
Municipalities & civil society will mobilise for dignified reception!

We will not stop resisting!
CSOs and NGOs will keep fighting to promote & protect #humanrights of people on the move.
We will keep defending and advocating for the right to #asylum, killed by @Europarl_EN, @EU_Commission and #EU leaders.
#NewPact #migration
After the approval of the Pact by @Europarl_EN, we want to call for resistance and a ever stronger civil society standing up for human rights and dignity. We anticipate broad legal implementation problems and aggravating local consequences. @EU_Commission @EP_Justice
