Morgan Whittaker played alongside Bukayo Saka, Curtis Jones and Anthony Gordon for England Under-19s in 2019. He played alongside Gordon, Jacob Ramsey and Taylor Harwood-Bellis for Lee Carsley’s England Under-20s in 2020. Whittaker’s career trajectory never matched theirs but the FA Cup offers a stage for those down the pyramid to seize the limelight, to remind people there is individual and collective quality outside the Premier League. One of the many reasons why the FA Cup is special and should be cherished. Not only was it a very good strike by Whittaker from the edge of the area against Brentford, it was a goal that will forever be celebrated by Plymouth Argyle fans. The scenes in the away end at the Gtech showed that. Argyle may be bottom of the Championship but they’re alive and kicking. Whittaker proved that. #PAFC #BREPLY #FACup
