The suffering of the Yazidis is endless. I just spoke with a father who lost his son in a river between Turkey and Greece as the family attempted to migrate. Another Yazidi child was also lost. The smuggler placed a group of 13 people in an inflatable raft; it sank only minutes later. The mother and father managed to save themselves, but their child likely drowned. This has been fate of hundreds of families over the past 12 years.

Kurdish students in Hasakah, Syria, were attacked today while protesting for the right to study and use their #mothertongue. Mostly masked men reportedly threw stones and beat demonstrators.
The protesters were demanding official recognition of the #Kurdish language, which is currently limited to three classes per week under Damascus-approved regulations.

My take: The strongest position is often the one that gives you the freedom to wait.
When you aren't desperate for an outcome, you can afford to be selective about your next move.

Men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, for everyone can see and few can feel.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are.
