What is the best way to learn how to paint less flat? I noticed my rendering looks really flat. I think it's because I don't understand how 3D shapes translate to my brush strokes.

So here's what I fixed: 1. make distinguishable light and shadow areas = value grouping (mine is still too messy) 2. over exposure/light bleeding for more volume 3. use light sparingly for more impact (see arm)
