Tomorrow, Dominic Williams (@dominic_w) will present โ€œSovereign cloud for the AI eraโ€ at @DubaiAIFest on 27 October 2026, 3:10 pm GST (12:10 pm CET) on the Innovation Stage. With Open Cloud, you create a cloud engine from nodes you choose by operator, country, datacenter, and hardware class. The Internet Computer combines them into one platform that keeps running when some nodes fail. Choose where your cloud runs: opencloud dot org

Some stats on #php2shell. In the 10 hours before it was publicly announced, across the @Cloudflare network we saw thousands of attempts to exploit it. That jumped to tens of thousands in the 45 minutes post announcement, hundreds of thousands within 2 hours, and millions now.

I've been thinking about sovereign cloud software for years. More recently, I've started ramping up on building. Introducing subnet.ee โ€” a sovereign cloud initiative built by EFTI on the Internet Computer (ICP). The recent explosion of AI-assisted, clean-room open-source software gave me an exciting opportunity. Seeing what @echelon and the @get_artcraft community have been creating in Rust and WebAssembly, I wanted to explore what happens when these tools meet a new cloud foundation. So I brought seven ArtCraft creator apps to ICP. They're already running, with cloud storage and a working ICP MCP integration that lets AI agents interact with the cloud. It's an early demonstration of two converging ideas: sovereign cloud and Open Source โ†’ Open SaaS. And this is just the beginning. The current implementation runs on ICP's public network, but the intended architecture goes further: Cloud Engine โ€” a more flexible, economically viable sovereign cloud foundation. User canisters โ€” dedicated storage and greater individual control. ICP blob storage โ€” economical storage for larger files. I'm hoping to advance these pieces over the next 3โ€“6 months, as the underlying infrastructure becomes available. It's still an open alpha, but I'm sharing it now because the purpose goes beyond delivering a useful set of applications. subnet.ee is also a signal to Estonia's engineers, creators, institutions, and government: we have an opportunity to fundamentally rethink how software is created, deployed, owned, and experienced. And a nod to @SwissSubnet (subnet.ch), whose work helped inspire the name and sovereign cloud direction. AI-driven software at the top. Protocol-driven cloud at the base. โ˜๏ธ subnet.ee

DFINITY has officially applied for the .icp top-level domain through ICANN's 2026 New gTLD Program. If approved, .icp could become a globally recognized domain extension, enabling addresses such as openchat.icp and oisy.icp to work in standard web browsers. The application must first pass ICANN's technical, financial, and regulatory evaluations. Source: newgtldprogram-aps.icann.orgโ€ฆ

All roads lead to ZK STARKs. Zcash, Ethereum, Starknet, and the internet security layer. I really hope Bitcoin too but it moves too slow, really worried about it
Do the labs have better algorithms for breaking crypto? Independent of the answer, the most important thing is to have crypto agility. Zcash has proven this, with 3 upgrades happening in 6 months, and Tachyon planned for January. The protocol design has plans for how to turn off features to enable safe protocol upgrades. This is what Quantum Recoverability is, and it applies equally well if there's a non-quantum ECDLP attack. We're equipped on multiple fronts to protect against future bugs. In the next cryptography upgrade, coming January, already slated features are: - PQ transparent - Switching to Tachyon What people don't realize about Tachyon is it switches us to R1CS, and enables far more crypto agility away from elliptic curves. The nullifier derivation no longer depend on elliptic curves. We get far greater SNARK agility and can very quickly move to STARKs when any crisis comes. Today's Zcash transparent UTXO's give a better security guarantee than an ETH address. @ZakuraZcash has solved the privacy and performance problem that were blocking rotating T-Addresses natively in the wallet. This is done using PIR to fetch balances, and its already live in Vizor. So its a short UX leap to get this backup plan. In January, the Transparent pool will be upgraded to support hash based sigs, that can later be STARK aggregated.

Only the tip of an iceberg folks ๐Ÿ”ฅ The Internet Computer is the 1st network providing core, mainstream technological utility, not a token database. The world needs sovereign, tamperproof cloud that turbocharges AI: ICP is the first breakout network since Bitcoin and Ethereum.
๐ŸšจYESTERDAY, DFINITY HELD A CALL ABOUT BUILDING DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ENTIRE NATIONS! $ICP On the call were Pakistan's Digital Authority as well as the UNDP where they spoke on using $FOR sovereign cloud, AI and government apps. Pakistan is already testing it. The UN wants to help bring the model to more countries. Very few crypto projects are even aiming at national digital infrastructure!

the internet fly capabilities so far: - a fly can hallucinate a smell that isn't there - a fly can be flipped into a lefty or a righty - a fly can be made afraid of a color - a fly can be convinced it's still starving right after eating - a fly can be given anxiety, then medicated for it - a fly can be talked out of its own courtship song - a fly can now play Doom - a fly can now play Mario 64 - a fly can now watch Bad Apple and react to it 166,000 neurons we've done more to a fly's mind this month than most therapists do to a human's in a decade and it still can't unionize bio/acc
๐Ÿšจ Someone open sourced an entire animal. Not a model of an animal. The animal. A fruit fly, rebuilt joint by joint from microscopy, that walks, grips, flies and lands inside a physics engine running on your laptop. It's called flybody. Built by Google DeepMind and HHMI Janelia, published in Nature, and sitting on GitHub under Apache 2.0 right now. What's actually inside: A full body in MuJoCo. Legs, wings, head, abdomen, every joint articulated and physically simulated. A 59-dimensional action space in the walking task alone. That is how many things a network has to coordinate for the fly to take one step. Leg adhesion, so it actually grips surfaces instead of sliding off them like a game asset. Ready-made RL environments: walking imitation, free flight, and vision-guided flight where the policy flies on what the fly sees. The whole thing is Python. Clone it, open MuJoCo, and the fly is on your screen. And the part that got me: Nobody animated any of this. You hand the body to a reinforcement learning agent and it discovers how to move it. Same loop as a robot arm, except the robot is a bug and the reward is staying airborne. Which means people are now training it to do things no fly has done in 100 million years of evolution. 525 stars. Apache 2.0. Zero dollars.

Next year frontier models are going to one shot everything 100x faster & cheaper than they are No reasoning traces to monitor Instinctive intelligence Which is why what you embed in pretraining is even more important
GPT-6 Astra is on the pareto-frontier of cost efficiency due to being EXTREMELY token efficient. It is in a whole league of it's own. It is cheaper than Gemini 3.8 Flash per task (a model 13x cheaper than Astra).
