Godmanchester Community Academy

Last week, we hosted a bake sale to raise funds for Jamie’s Quest. We raised a fantastic £337.50. A huge than you to Oscar in Year 6 for suggesting the fundraiser and helping to organise it. #gcacommunity #gcavalues #jamiesquest

All set up and ready for the mystery object prize winners’ tea party. Hot chocolate, cake and lots of excited tales of how the children made their entries- my favourite afternoon meeting 😊#gcaexperiences #gcacreativity #gcamysteryobject

The best type of 2pm meeting…the prize winning tea party for the mystery object challenge was a huge success. Laughter and excitement filled the office as we shared stories, poems, facts, drawings, models and cake and hot chocolate!#gcacreativity #gcavalues #gcarewards

The rain held off to allow KS2 to enjoy some quick sticks hockey with Mr Partridge @Primary_S_S over lunchtime today. Active lunchtimes help in so many ways #gcawellbeing #gcasport

The feeling when your mystery object assembly sparks creativity in some of you learners… #gcavalues #gcacreativity #mysteryobject

This photo represents the hard work of three year six girls who respectfully raised a concern with the school’s decision to ban earrings. They put forward a convincing case and as a result the school have reconsidered their view. #gcahardwork #gcadebate #gcavalues

A huge thank you to @AngelaMakey at Niche Comics for helping to organise our workshop with authors Steve May and James Turner. The children had an absolute blast #gcareads #gcaenglish #childrensbooks #poocrewadventures

Map skills using maps of our local area have been the focus for Year 4 this week in their geography sessions. #gcageo #gcacommunity

Year 1 took advantage of a break in the rain to get outside and create obstacle courses. They showed great cooperation and helped each other to complete each course. #gcape #gcaoutdoors #continuousprovision #grossmotor

We cannot wait to start exploring our new outdoor science classroom. Featuring seating, a pond and plenty of plants we are hoping it will become a haven for wildlife. Thank you to A&K Builders and Godmanchester Nursery for your support in creating this #gcaeco #gcascience

During our assembly today, the pupils turned into detectives trying to identify my mystery object. They heard clues including a riddle before taking their guesses. I’ve now challenged them to produce something creative inspired by the object-a typewriter #aces_creativity

We pride ourselves on being a safe and caring environment for all our pupils. We discuss the importance of a network of support with regularly and everyone produces a network hand to signpost their trusted adults. #gcapshe #gcavalues

Year 1 went on the first school trip of the year to talk to Rev. Busk about the features in our local church. The children behaved brilliantly and loved seeing the features they had learnt about in real life. #gcare #gcaexperiences #gcacommunity
