Please ask your MP to support @Humanists_UK’s campaign for legal recognition of humanist marriages in England and Wales. 💍 Humanist weddings have increased by 266% over the last decade, so legal recognition is long overdue! Write to your MP here: humanists.uk/what-you-can-do…

3,000 signatures and rising. Since we shared the petition this weekend, we have reached more than 3,000 signatures! Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, spoken out, and helped amplify the importance of safeguarding. Our petition is calling for the resignation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Recent events have raised serious questions about judgement, due diligence, accountability, and whether survivor voices are being heard, including those affected by abuse, terrorism, and institutional failure. Every signature adds another voice. If you have not yet signed, or would be willing to share the petition with others, any support would be greatly appreciated: change.org/ABC-Resign Thank you to everyone continuing to stand with survivors and support the call for change. @AleemMaqbool @AndrewGraystone @cathynewman @donna_birrell @GuardintheFlock @HseofSurvivors @kayaburgess @MadsDavies @NatSecSoc @Rgt71Robert @Richard_Scorer @seaofcomplicity @steveswannBBC

The UK is one of the last western democracies with a state religion: the #ChurchofEngland. The Church's entanglement with the state is bad for both. Join our campaign to disestablish the Church. 👇👇👇 secularism.org.uk/disestabli… #Disestablishment #SeparateChurchAndState #CofE

So here’s a question for those who rightly support the Miners’ Gala. Should it continue to have a connection with the CoE. It seems outdated and biased to still have banners “blessed” by one faith.
✨ Blessing of the Banners ✨ Join a tradition which has been a vital part of the Miners’ Gala since 1897, as Durham Cathedral hosts the poignant ceremony during which the Bishop of Durham blesses new or restored colliery banners. This year features Langley Park and Ludworth.

Especially as UK increasingly secular (separation of state and beliefs) and CoE is the established church of the state with a monarch as its head. Thoughts? Thanks. @Humanists_UK @NatSecSoc @The_TUC @orgreavejustice

Telling women they have no authority over their bodies, calling gay marriage “disgusting”, and saying gay people should be “institutionalised” serve no public benefit. Yet by classifying the advancement of religion as a charitable purpose, we end up legitimising this nonsense. @natsecsoc quoted metro.co.uk/2026/04/16/women…

In UK the Crime and Policing Bill is woefully inadequate when judged against what the churches do. There is a “duty to report” child sex abuse but enforcement is effectively in the hands of employers who may (not must) refer non-reporters to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Those outraged by King Charles not delivering an “Easter Message” (which he’s never delivered before) & which Queen Elizabeth only did once in her 70 yr reign could, of course, pop into a church & listen to a live Easter message from the pulpit Just ask your satnav where it is…
