The BlueSky page is up & operating. If you're there, give me a follow & come hang out and chat & whatnot. Obviously, I have not been on or interacting here for ages now. Not giving the crzed Musk melon my attention/content. at longbox dot bsky dot social. Much more chill vibes.
I am in the process of setting up my Blue Sky account. I've found some of you there, but if you have a profile over there, let me know so I can follow you in a non-toxic non-hellscape.
#DynamicDC Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen 10, cover by Stan Kave and Ray Burnley. Has anyone explained the Silver Age audience's obsession with apes? I know they did it becasue they sold. But why did they sell? @DCComics
#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Swamp Thing 73, cover by John Totleben. It was challenging to follow up Moore on this book, but Veitch deserves props for how well he does it. @DCComics
"#TrueBelieverTuesday Tales of Suspense 36, cover by Jack Kirby. How can you resist a book with a story called ""The Gorilla from Outer Space""? You can't. The question is why it's not cover featured. @Marvel"
#BargainBinMonday Beowulf 3, cover by Ricardo Villamonte. Not a tough call to pull this from the $1 bin. @DCComics
#DynamicDC Captain Atom 14, cover by Pat Broderick. The @DCComics revamps of Charlton characters were a mcuh needed update. Would love to seem them do it again in 2023.
#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Doctor Zero 1, cover by @sinKEVitch. The Epic line did some interesting books. @Marvel
#ReadingPile Wasp 2, cover by Tom Reilly. This limted series and the Ant-Man one before it are fun, with great art, story and design. #Antman #Wasp @Marvel
#TrueBelieverTuesday Love Romances 102, cover by Jack Kirby & Vince Coletta. Hope your day is a little less melodramatic. @Marvel
#BargainBinMonday Josie 34, cover by Dan DeCarlo. A bit beat, but who can pass up this grooviness of design.
#DynamicDC G.I. Combat 258, cover by Joe Kubert. War comics may be out of vogue, and that flag would likely not grace a modern comics cover, but Kubert's skills are undeniable. And frankly, most war comics tell pretty anti-war stories, or at least show the cost of war. @DCComics
#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Action Comics 600, cover by Byrne, Schaffenberger, Perez, Mignola and Ordway. 50 years seemed like a big deal and ancient history then. 1973 seems like only yesterday today. @DCComics
#ReadingPile Captain Britain Omnibus, cover by Alan Davis. I just love this character, land ong before Claremont co-opted him into the X-fold. @Marvel
#TrueBelieverTuesday Strange Tales 103, cover by Jack Kirby & Dick Ayers. There's just a certain carefree joy in Silver Age stories that it is harder to find in later eras, when we all started to take comics maybe a little too seriously. @Marvel
#BargainBinMonday Adventure Comucs 477, cover by Ross Andru & Dick Giordano. Wish they'd bring back a monthly anthology series like this. @DCComics
#DynamicDC Weird War Tales 26, cover by Luis Dominguez. War? Horror? Eh, why not both? @DCComics
#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month.Mr. Monster 1, cover by Michael Gilbert & Dave Dorman. Always felt I missed the boat on this one. @DarkHorseComics
#ReadingPile Slowly rebuilding a run of Dreadstar. Mostly from $1 boxes. Just the Starlin written & drawn issues. The others just never did it for me. But I rank Dreadstar as Starlin's best.
