Acting on credible intelligence regarding terrorist movements across Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja Local Government Areas, troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, executed a successful ambush along the Adankolo–Apata Road in Kogi State on October 31, 2026, forcing suspected bandits to flee and subsequently recovering the bodies of two neutralised criminals alongside a locally made pistol, a cartridge, and an empty 7.62mm special ammunition casing during forest exploitation. Nigeria’s power sector has accumulated enormous debts over the years, but the Tinubu administration is making a remarkable effort to address the burden.
Here is what successive administrations reportedly paid:
Obasanjo: ₦100 billion
Yar’Adua: ₦200 billion
Jonathan: ₦213 billion
Buhari: ₦500 billion
Tinubu: ₦1.2 trillion
Think about the scale of this: Tinubu paid ₦1.2 trillion in just three years, exceeding the combined ₦1.013 trillion attributed to the four preceding administrations over 24 years.
This is what confronting inherited liabilities looks like. Beyond the politics, settling these debts is critical to restoring confidence, improving liquidity and strengthening the foundations of Nigeria’s electricity sector.
