A moment of pure wild instinct! This Asiatic lioness wasn’t hunting for food — she killed the crow after repeated harassment and mobbing behaviour. Crows often tease and disturb predators to protect their territory or distract them, but sometimes the response turns deadly. In the wild, not every kill is about hunger… sometimes it’s about dominance, irritation, and survival. @moefcc @GujForestDept #Gir #AsiaticLioness #LionBehaviour

A camera trap in Kuno National Park has photographed a caracal for the first time in decades. India has fewer than 50 caracals left. It's listed under Schedule I of the WPA — same protection as the tiger. The Ranthambore-Kuno landscape is specifically identified as a critical corridor for its recovery. Globally Least Concern; in India, critically endangered. The sighting is genuinely significant — it tells us that a landscape intensively managed for cheetah reintroduction has retained the ecological conditions to support one of India's rarest predators. That's a real habitat quality signal. But as conservation biologist Dharmendra Khandal told Mongabay India after a Gandhi Sagar sighting last year: "A sighting offers a clue, not a sign of recovery." What's needed next: systematic camera trap surveys, occupancy modelling, and a management plan for the dry grasslands the caracal depends on — habitats long classified as "wasteland" in India. The Queen of the Lakes Still Carries the Crown Right in the heart of Zone 3 in Ranthambore, beside the shimmering waters of Malik Talab, a powerful moment unfolded in April 2024 that left the wildlife community in awe. Riddhi — also known as T-124 — the current Queen of the Lakes, born around October–November 2018, now approximately 7–8 years old. She is the daughter of Tigress Arrowhead (T-84), granddaughter of Krishna (T-19), and the great-granddaughter of the legendary Machli (T-16). Like her ancestors, Riddhi is famous for her aggressive, fearless, and highly territorial personality. She once fought fiercely with her own mother and sister Siddhi (T-125) to seize control of the lake territories. After many brutal battles (including one where she suffered a severe tongue injury requiring 14 stitches), Riddhi successfully claimed Zone 3 & 4 — especially the areas of Padam Lake, Rajbagh, and Malik Talab — earning her the title “Queen of the Lakes”. In June 2023, Riddhi gave birth to her first litter of 3 cubs (now nearly 3 years old, in the sub-adult stage). And less than a year later, she led her cubs in a spectacular hunt: taking down a crocodile right at the edge of Malik Talab — continuing the “Crocodile Killer” tradition of the Machli bloodline. #Ranthambore #Machli #RiddhiT124 #Tiger

A Reminder for Indians that Americans Used to Cut 1000+ YEARS old trees like nothing just for Mining or Plain Furniture Wood. In 1960’s they cut one of the oldest living organism in the WORLD (4,800 years old tree) for scientific research. Imagine trying to do all this in India

Congratulations @OilIndiaLimited ! An ocean of energy opportunities reinforced in the Andaman Sea! Very happy to report the presence of natural gas in Sri Vijayapuram-3 an exploratory well drilled by Oil India Ltd. 15 km off the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 355 meters. Initial production testing of the well at the depth of 1900 plus meters in the Eocene formation has established the presence of natural gas through continuous flaring. Oil India is carrying out gas sampling to assess the composition & calorific value of gas and to carry out isotope studies to understand the genesis of the gas. Under the Samudra Manthan Mission (National Deep Water Exploration Mission) announced by Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji on Independence Day 2025, large number of deepwater & Ultra deepwater exploration wells are planned in our offshore basins to fully exploit our hydrocarbon reserves. Presence of hydrocarbon is now reported in 2(Two) wells out of 3 (Three) exploratory wells drilled by OIL in current exploratory campaign off Andaman Basin. This presence of natural gas will help us in taking forward our exploration ambitions in coordination with global deepwater exploration experts like @petrobras, @TotalEnergies, @bp_india, @Shell, @exxonmobil and will be a significant milestone in our journey through Amrit Kaal! @PMOIndia @PIB_India @PetroleumMin @mygovindia #OilIndia #EnergySecurity #Exploration #NaturalGas #Andaman

🐅 The Crocodile Killer – Machali (T-16) Born around 1997 in Ranthambore National Park, Machali quickly became one of the most famous and beloved tigresses in India. She wasn’t just beautiful — she was incredibly strong and fearless, ruling a huge territory around the lakes. Her most legendary moment happened in 2003 at Rajbagh. A massive mugger crocodile, around 12–14 feet long (nearly 4 meters) and almost twice her weight, entered her territory near the water. It was threatening her cubs. Machali didn’t hesitate. She charged straight into battle. The fight was long, brutal, and intense. The crocodile used its powerful jaws to drag her into the water, but she fought back with raw strength and speed. In the chaos, she lost two of her canines, but in the end, she killed the giant crocodile. The old video of this fight is still going viral even today. Even after losing her canines and later becoming blind in one eye, Machali kept hunting successfully, defending her territory, and raising multiple litters. She lived to 19 years old — an insane age for a wild tigress. Her bloodline still runs strong in Ranthambore’s tigers today. #Machali #Ranthambore #Tiger #Wildlife

History shows that what truly unites countries is shared interests, not shared religion, otherwise Muslim ‘brotherhood’ would have stopped Middle Eastern states from siding with the US against Iran
