Today's #AlcoholCharter blog comes from @DWAW_UK, explaining that older adults can face age discrimination when trying to access alcohol treatment services. Yet more than 1/3 of older adults develop alcohol problems later in life and deserve support. alcoholchange.org.uk/blog/20…

BONUS GRAPH: Here's the changing age distribution of alcohol-specific deaths in Scotland 1979-2018. You can really see the huge rise in deaths in the late 90s and subsequent falling back. Also note the gradual shift in recent years towards older ages.

Brilliantly insightful thread from @VictimOfMaths on the increase in alcohol-specific deaths across the UK: "Deaths at younger ages haven't changed since 2001. Rises are completely driven by increasing death rates in the over 55s in both men and women."
New figures released today from @ONS on alcohol-specific deaths (i.e. those caused wholly by alcohol) show another rise from last year. But isn't alcohol consumption falling? WHAT'S GOING ON? /Thread ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationa…
Many of us think alcohol is a young people’s issue but Graeme Callander @DWAW_UK tells us the stats tell a different story - it’s us 45-64 year olds who are drinking the most #CallingTimeScot @AlcoholFocus
