The Binance hacker may have just pulled off one of the sharpest moves in crypto. Tether froze $1.5B in USDT. Circle followed by freezing another $800M in USDC. The funds looked completely trapped. Instead, he allegedly deposited the stolen USDT into Aave, used it as collateral to borrow ETH, and walked away. Tether can freeze the USDT still sitting there. It can’t touch the ETH already borrowed. Aave is left holding frozen collateral. The hacker is holding liquid ETH and may never have to repay if the protocol can’t recover the funds. Two issuers froze billions in seconds. Someone who understood DeFi found a way around both. Pretty wild.
