ALT On Tuesday, Unity Technologies made the monumentally stupid decision to retroactively change their business terms and enforce a revenue share with extra steps by charging a runtime fee to its users on a "per-install" basis. Not only is an install an impossible thing to track (it is a ludicrous metric) but fundamentally, this overnight change in relationship has forced developers into a contract that they did not agree to when initially signing-up to use the engine, and cannot opt-out of without great expense to them and their business. It is my belief that any company happy to pull the rug on its users like this, and enforce borderline illegal retroactive changes to their business contract at will, is a company that people would be foolish to stake their future on. For this reason, unless Unity revert their decision, I cannot in good conscience promote or partner with Unity in the future. - Matt
