To the best of my knowledge I have never met a member of the IRGC. Neither expressed “a positive opinion” about them. An English woman named Shabana Mahmood has just made it punishable by 14 years in prison so to do so as a free-born Scotsman I will have to reconsider that. So far as I’m aware - as a UK legislator across five decades - this is the first time I have been explicitly told that I can go to prison literally for my opinion. For those of you cheering, remember, it will be your opinion next.

This October, Paypal suspended The Grayzone’s account, blocking our audience from donating to us without explaining anything to them, and preventing us from accessing several thousand dollars already in the account.
In order to regain access, Paypal has demanded we to go through an invasive process requiring us to provide photo ID, tax forms, and to explain two donations totaling $40 from a private citizen in Australia.
@MaxBlumenthal investigated the suspicious ban by interviewing the small donor flagged by Paypal.
What he learned confirms that our account was blocked on political grounds, and raises some truly disturbing questions about the role of the Five Eyes global surveillance network in undermining independent media.

Scottish law holds that anything on social media which can be read in Scotland is published in Scotland.
Clive Thomson was jailed for contempt of court for material he published in France. I have been questioned by police over material I published in Iceland.
Those were not for hate crime, but the Scottish Hate Crime and Public Order Act 2021, which has severe implications for freedom of speech, will be enforced from 1 April.
The principle that anything that can be read online in Scotland is published in Scotland - which I strongly oppose as ridiculous - is the same as that which fuels the London libel industry. It has nothing to do with residence, which is why you have had Russian oligarchs sue each other in London.
I can see nothing in the Act which limits this principle. Therefore any alleged hate against a protected characteristic, published by anybody anywhere in the world, can be reported to Scottish police by someone who read it in Scotland, from 1 April.
