One of the easiest ways to observe an athlete’s Motor Preferences is to watch movements that aren’t typically taught—like how they leave the box after hitting a home run.
Watch the untaught moments. They’re a great opportunity to observe an athlete’s natural Motor Preferences.
It was awesome having our guy @KolbyBranch in for his assessment!
We had the pleasure of having @sadieburroughs in this week for our Full Assessment!
We can’t wait to watch Sadie compete this year and follow her journey at @dukesoftball! 🔵😈🥎

What a week at the Gasso Center of Excellence.
We wrapped up the first-ever Motor Preferences Coaches Clinic and couldn't be more excited about what's ahead.
Coaches from across the country came together to learn, collaborate, challenge ideas, and explore athlete development through the lens of Motor Preferences.
The vision has always been bigger than a single event.
A place where coaches can continue learning and better understand the athletes in front of them.
A place where players can learn more about themselves and take the next step in their development.
Thank you to everyone who joined us.
This was just the beginning.

Fernando Tatis Jr.’s bat speed is actually UP.
But observationally, the movement pattern has changed.
2025:
• More rhythm
• Shorter stride
• Earlier into the front side
• Rotating around the front leg naturally
2026:
• Longer stride
• More push from the back leg
• Hands getting stuck behind him more often
• Attack Direction shifts from 1° oppo → 4° oppo
When hitters stop rotating around their natural axis of rotation, the hands often get trapped behind the body and start working around the baseball instead of freely out in front.
Sometimes the issue isn’t force production or bat speed.
It’s movement organization and repeatability.
Go back and watch clips of Tatis at 16 years old. A lot of the movement solutions were already there.

Out of the 16 teams competing in Super Regionals, 7 are #MPEFam programs.
Including 4 teams hosting.
Huge congratulations to the players, coaches, and staffs continuing to compete at the highest level of college softball.
Every program does things a little differently. Every roster is unique. That’s what makes it so special to work alongside coaches who are committed to understanding how their athletes naturally move, learn, and perform.
We’re grateful to be part of the journey and excited to continue pushing athlete development forward together.
