Coach Sullivan got a big time player who is only gonna get better. Cillian had approximately 10 D3 Offers and several other colleges waiting to see if he would drop down. Pleasure working with him and family. Followed the plan to a T and performed. He will have a great collegiate career. One of many clients to get multiple offers.@CRConsultingSD1 @djsdsu23 @WindwardHoops @Cillian_Lavin @BoyleKettles @BQuillmanQcast @OACBBallShow @FullTimeHoops1 @3PointPlayer @DenisonHoops

Straight from the mouth of a mid-major D1 coach a few minutes ago. I told him I needed to write this stuff down and share with everyone.
We were talking about a few players that I work with and he was telling me about how ridiculous recruiting is getting.
"Everyone's running out of roster spots... so we are all like, 'this guy sucks' [when watching a player] because he's not an absolute dude. And we're all passing on good players because you'll probably be able to find an older or more experienced guy down the road".
"We basically have 3 different recruiting classes each year. High school, JC, and portal. And you don't even know how many roster spots you're actually gonna have".
"We have so few roster spots that we are grading kids on such high scales. Like a high school guy has to be a starter as a freshman or we can't recruit him. And then if he shows up and actually starts as a freshman for us he'll probably leave and get more money from a bigger school. So you can't win. And then we just end up sitting in a holding pattern."
"The value of a single roster spot for us has gone up a ton because the total amount of spots we have has gone down, but the dollar amount per spot has gone up with scholarships increasing. So we are investing more in these guys, and expecting more."
This is the sentiment amongst most D1 coaches at this point and honestly a large population of D2 and D3 programs that are incentivized to be patient and wait for an older guy rather than recruiting young. High tier academic schools operate on a different timeline, and there are certainly some other exceptions. But this is the new reality for most programs.
Players and families... do not assume that you are the exception and that this doesn't apply to you!

Kevin Willard admits he isn't recruiting any high school players this year 👀
"We're not recruiting a high school kid this year... just because of the fifth-year rule. We have six guys that can come back for a fifth year. So, I'd much rather have one of my players come back, than bring in a high school kid"

Amen!!! Been telling recruits this for years. Most players and parents still not getting it. RECRUITING ENVIRONMENT HAS CHANGED. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇@CRConsultingSD1
PLAYERS: Go Where You Are WANTED and Where You Can PLAY!! Great 🏀 at ALL levels!! @nresultsrecruit
2 under the radar hs coaches in LA. Cam Joyce (Loyola) and DJ Gay (Windward). Run hs programs like
college programs; both very successful former college players; really understand today’s youth; aren’t very much on social media; get players opportunities to play college hoops at all levels; simply great people and winners. @CRConsultingSD1 @FullTimeHoops1 @trigonis30 @Devin_Ugland @djsdsu23 @CamKnows_ @WindwardHoops @LoyolaAthletics
Just spent time watching Loyola HS hoops run by Coach Cam Joyce. Another college run hs program. Definitely has D1, D2 and D3 players on the roster in the toughest LA conference-Mission League. Definitely a big time Coach and program to watch.@FullTimeHoops1 @trigonis30 @CRConsultingSD1 @CamKnows_
With the 5 for 5 rule passed in D1 and D2 less hs hoopers will be playing college 🏀. If next year D3 passes this rule as well it will even be dramatically harder for hs players to play college 🏀. Not trying to scare players, but this is the new reality. Playing AAU hoops only will not get you a college opportunity. YOU MUST HAVE A STRATEGIC PLAN. @CRConsultingSD1 @D3Direct @BQuillmanQcast @FullTimeHoops1 @3PointPlayPlus
High school players are being rushed to commit way too early.
Getting committed isn’t the goal. Finding the right place is.
A place you can develop.
A place you can play.
Coaches you trust.
A school you want to attend.
Don’t let someone else’s timeline decide your future.

A college coach can really like you and still not recruit you.
It isn't always about talent.
They may already have your position.
They may need a different position more.
They may not have the roster space.
They may have another player they like a little more.
Recruiting isn't just:
“Are you good enough?”
It's also:
“Do you fit what we need?”
Alex is gonna be a tough guy to beat or defend. Unbelievable skill set and a non stop motor. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is all UAA. A high-academic D3 Coach told us this:
“As soon as I get a recruit's name I go to Twitter”
Their goal?
Get a quick sense of the player's fit for their program, aka if they are "recruitable"
Best Case: The recruit has all key info listed in their profile, it is up to date & there's film to watch
Worst Case: Limited info, no highlight, or even worse - no profile at all
Coaches can't recruit what they can't find
Twitter (X) is free and something all recruits should create & maintain
