Fact check:-
1. Harikela kingdom issued coins labelled Veraka. As history bears witness, Sylhet had it's own regional identity by the 10th CE.
2. There are Bengali inscriptions dating back to 11-12th CE in Unakoti, North Tripura. Ergo, Bengalis are natives of Tripura.
This G25 PCA shows Bengali Muslim samples from Sylhet, SE, North, NW and Central Bangladesh clustering closely, reflecting a shared Bengali genetic continuum. Some Sylheti Muslim samples shift slightly towards West Bengal Brahmins but remain within the wider Bengali cluster.
Lot of Sylheti Bengali diaspora players joining the Bangladesh national team. Great to see. Hopefully we'll see a genuine mix of diaspora and homegrown talent too. All the best to the kid, insha'Allah!
Deserves attention.

1/ Saudi Arabia executed two Bangladeshi expats on Oct 14 over an "immoral act" inside a Makkah mosque. Some are now celebrating it as proof that the kingdom is a model of tawhid and full Shariah.
Let's look at this honestly, without emotion or blind admiration. 🧵

Ask yourself why a Bangladeshi couple was executed in Saudi Arabia for allegedly kissing inside a mosque in Mecca, while a Sri Lankan Hindu man who insulted the Prophet ﷺ was just spared execution
The double standards are sickening
And no, they didn’t have sex. That’s not true

Rukn Khan ‘Ala al-Din al-Sirhati, “the Sylheti,” was a leading commander of the Bengal Sultanate. Contemporary inscriptions record him as wazir, sar-i-lashkar (head of the army) and kotwal, and place him in campaigns across Kamrup, Kamta, Jajnagar and Orissa.
The Sylhet inscription (AH 918 / 1512–13) calls Rukn Khan the conqueror of Hasht Gamhariyan and records him as wazir and general during the campaigns of Kamrup, Kamta, Jajnagar and Orissa.
