Last Thursday I had the honour of hosting the @veteransawardsni which is where βThe 457β project was launched.
AN INCREDIBLE PROJECT and one very close to my β€οΈ
457 is more than a number in a history book and indeed more than a number to me. It represents a person, a family and a story that deserves to be remembered. A soldier I, or my colleagues, carried home on MERT. π«‘
Marking the 25th anniversary of Operation HERRICK in 2027, The 457 will honour all 457 UK service personnel lost during the conflict in Afghanistan.
Handcrafted in Belfast by @nomadic.watches Watches, each of the 457 dedicated timepieces will honour one of the fallen, accompanied by artwork by @wills_art_world_ Wills MBE and a certificate sharing their story.
Taking custody of a timepiece means taking personal guardianship of a story. A quiet, daily mark of remembrance.
Β£457 from every timepiece will go directly to support @scottyscharity The Military Bereavement Charity, and @walkingwiththewounded. Connect Through Service receives no profit from this project.
To find out more and register your expression of interest, visit the457.co.uk.
One hero. One timepiece. One enduring memory.
(P.s β¦the watches are STUNNING!)

Halloween artificial cobweb material:
It may be a bit of fake fun for you, but it's a very real and terrifying death for them.
And it's not only birds.
Last year I had my first call of the season of a hedgehog trapped in this horrific fake 'cobweb', made especially for gullible halloweeners to spread over their greenery, trapping all unsuspecting birds, insects and mammals, including hedgehogs.
The fine synthetic fibers are difficult for animals to see and can quickly wrap around their legs, spines, and neck, leading to severe injuries.
When a hedgehog struggles to free herself the web tightens, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
These constriction injuries often lead to permanent damage or death.
Unfortunately the call was from Manchester, so all I could do was talk them through getting the poor creature to a rescue.
Clearly she had been trapped there for at least one night, and her struggles had pulled the strong nylon strands so tightly that one of her toes had been amputated.
Can you imagine the pain and the sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted to the point of near death, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, please take it down now.
Please don't be conned by the greedy makers and sellers of this rubbish into hurting defenceless animals.
Thank you to every single Control staff member. The job you do is vital.
π Happy International Control Room Week! Behind every #Ambulance response is a team of people working tirelessly to make it happen, and their calm and compassion can make a life-changing difference when people need help most. Thank you for everything you do! #HeroesInHeadsets

Knowing what to do in a cardiac arrest can make a lifesaving difference.
During Resus Annie on Tour, we've been speaking to members of the public about how confident they would feel stepping forward in an emergency.
If someone collapses and is unresponsive, call 999 immediately. The call handler will guide you through what to do, including how to assess for signs of life, perform CPR, and find the nearest defibrillator.

LATEST: A man has now been arrested following outrage over a video appearing to show someone spitting on the statue of murdered Southend MP Sir David Amess.
Essex Police confirmed this morning that a man in his 30s was arrested in Westcliff on suspicion of criminal damage and a public order offence.
The arrest follows widespread anger after footage circulated on social media earlier this week, appearing to show a man deliberately spitting in the face of Sir David's statue on Chalkwell seafront.
The incident came just days after the fifth anniversary of Sir David's murder, prompting condemnation from his family, councillors, MPs and members of the public.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "A man has been arrested as part of an investigation which relates to a video posted on social media in Southend.
"A report was made to us on Wednesday 21 October and our investigation was launched.
"This morning, Friday 23 October, a man aged in his 30s was arrested in Westcliff.
"Heβs being questioned on suspicion of a public order offence and criminal damage. He remains in custody."
This is absolutely disgusting. They are a real life threat. Some wait until crews, especially single female responders turn up before actually doing these things in front of them.
They also call other services including Samaritans to do this. We need zero tolerance
