The NSA told anyone who can't patch PHP2Shell right away to take their systems offline.
PHP runs 70% of all websites.
Taking the internet offline is not an acceptable mitigation. Not in 2026. Not ever.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
The bug sat in the PHP engine for 14 years. Frontier models found it in weeks. Exploit attempts started four days before disclosure.
Brace yourself. Branded vulnerabilities are coming faster.
Patching alone can't keep up. This is why we're building Ballistix: protection hooks deployed in minutes, so you patch at your own speed.
